A couple weeks ago, I saw a live possum lumbering around the tracks at Main Street Station. It didn't surprise me much: possums are rather common in Orange County, California. I rode SW for the first time in at least a decade, and I was mildly surprised to see the Three Caballeros in the Latin America section, and a very Mary-Blair-Esque version of Ariel in the Ocean section. But only mildly surprised, and while I understand that there are fanatical Mary Blair fans who take great exception to these modifications, I don't find them to be even in the same league as imposing a movie-tie-in axe-murdering-bride backstory on HM (for which I've always preferred, at least for the DL version, the folk backstory of a bride unwittingly marrying a soon-to-retire pirate captain [a POTC tie-in], leading to a double-suicide). Then there are things so surprising, they leave me staring in shocked disbelief: I was in the outside queue at ST, and glancing at the point where a chain was attached to a stanchion that doubled as an umbrella mast, I noticed that the bolt-snap had evidently received enough of a pull to distort the hook, so that the bolt no longer met (or even came within 1/8 inch of) the tip. That must have been one heavy guest leaning on it.
