I accidently clicked on an old bookmark and it brought me to a non-error page! Just wanted to let you know you aren't alone. But maybe it will take a month for you to see this.

Just a few days, actually. :)

I wrote to the main LP "contact us" link and asked if they could mention that the boards were back for those wishing to partake. That was a month ago, and I don't know if they've done so, as I don't check the site (let alone the boards, which were unavailable again till recently) every day.

If they're going to be available, I think it would be very nice if that was announced on the front page, as otherwise how would many people even know? I'd love to see some of the old posters again.

Holy <an emoji we don't have>! We apparently are back.

I only found out about it by sheer dumb luck: I did a Google search on the phrase, "The McNuggets of a chicken," and the only result was one of my old posts here.

I will note that it's been well over a year since I set foot in any Disney theme park. Then again, it's been over a year since I last set foot in any theme park. Disneyland is just too expensive, these days, and too many of my favorite attractions are long-gone, with their buildings repurposed.

I will note that the landscaping in Galaxy's Edge is absolutely amazing, and I love the interactive aspects of Smuggler's Run (on both of the occasions I've ridden it, I got the "engineer" position, which would have been my choice anyway, had I been given one). On the other hand, Rise of the Resistance has never seemed worth the queue to me, and always struck me as being a bit too immersive.

The demise of the FastPass system, replaced with systems involving either a smartphone (discrimination against non-smartphone-users like myself is still a berserk button for me) or a fee (didn't they promise never to charge a fee, when they first rolled out FastPass, and some other theme park rolled out a fee-based system), or both, kind of soured me as well.

Nor did MagicBands exactly float my boat. Thankfully, on my last trip to WDW, the All Star Music staff had no problem with my preferring a little gray card.

    Waves hi.

The reservation system and lightning lanes are a major deterrent for us. My Mom was a CM, so my Dad can still sign us into the WDW parks otherwise we would have given up visiting those completely. In addition to our Tokyo trip, which I posted just a really short thread about, we visited Disneyland Paris for the 1st time in December. So the only park I haven't been to is Shanghai. Both our international trips gave us way more bang for our buck. But I saw DLP is introducing airline ticket pricing now! It's all too much, when there is a whole, big world out there. My Dad would like to visit Dollywood next holiday season, and I'd like to visit some of the non-Disney European parks. In addition to just visiting the countries they are in.

Actually, the past decade, I've probably spent at least as much time, in any given year, in Disney Hall, as in Disneyland. Like this past Tuesday evening, I was at Disney Hall for a chamber music concert by (mostly) members of the LAPhil. And earlier this month, I was there for Itzhak Perlman and friends, for an evening of all-star chamber music.

    Hi guys,

I was at DL around this time last year, and just loved my time there. It was expensive, but it had been 6 1/2 years since I'd been (literally my longest "separation" ever), so even with all the potential frustrations I found I was enjoying myself immensely.

Loved: Rise of the Resistance, general Galaxy's Edge vibe, Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway, Adventureland Treehouse, some of the live entertainment (especially at DCA), some of the new (to me) DCA food choices, the World of Color Christmas show. And of course, just being there, plus all the classics I've always loved.

Liked: Millennium Falcon, Oga's Cantina, mobile ordering while in line for something and timing it out so it would be ready when the ride was over, the DL fireworks show, the Toontown makeover, Trader Sam's (it had been there on previous visits, but I hadn't gone), Incredicoaster (prefer the music to CS),Tropical Hideaway, finally getting "Free Ride" on Guardians.

Less crazy about: Spiderman ride and Avenger's Campus in general (should improve with the new E-ticket), reservation system for certain restaurants; I got into Oga's and Trader Sam's, but could never get into Carthay Circle, and couldn't get in by "walking up" at entry time either. I NEVER had trouble getting in there before it became reservation only.

Neutral about: Genie Plus. It worked very well for us, and was a relatively small expense compared to flight, hotel, etc., and it was worth it being so long away, not knowing when we'd be back, and because we wanted to do a lot... but I imagine if I was a local who could return any time, I'd probably skip it.

Remarkable. I was under the impression that "Runaway Railway" was a WDW-only attraction (replacing GMR). This might actually be enough to get me into WDW sometime in 2025.

What? Opened in DL in January of 2023? That would mean that I haven't set foot in DL in two years! I never realized it had been that long!

I will note that my two favorite WDW-only attractions are both now defunct, and they both used the "rolling theatre" ride system: GMR and Ellen.

BTW, has anybody had any contact with "iamsally" lately? To let her know the board is back up?

I checked in here vigilantly for soooo looooonngg..... But obviously months have gone by since my last attempt. We were visiting with old LP friends in Yakima just after New Years so I am surprised it didn't come up then.

I've been to Disneyland three times in the past two years and am in the process of planning a forth. These have all been because someone else wanted us there. I'm still hoping for an off season trip with just Rod and me.

I believe I was able to post for this one.
In February of 2023 we did it with the aforementioned LP pals. We booked almost a year ahead and did not realize it was President's Day week. It turned into a fantastic trip though it was crowded. We shared a condo that was just 2 blocks from the Toy Story parking lot so we could catch the bus there. The last night was the best because it rained all day and into the evening. Our companions opted to stay in but the 70 and 71 year olds wrapped our boots in plastic wrap, bundled up and headed in. We finally got on Rise and the line was so short we went around and did it again. Took us about 40 minutes total! We also got to do Runaway Railway with no line. We waited for the last DRR train of the night so we didn't get back until after 1AM.

The following September my friend from 7th grade wanted to spend her 70th birthday there. I helped her celebrate her 60th in Disneyland so felt I should go. To make it even better; a mutual friend from 6th grade was able to join us. I had been sleeping on converted chairs in Hallie's RV so I was more than happy to join Nancy in her Marriott Hotel room. We had not seen each other for over 50 years and it was like we'd been friends all along. She was responsible for my husband and I getting together.

Then came June and my Seattle daughter called to say she had booked a trip with her family. I wasn't about to miss that as they had not been for 7 years. We said nothing and apparently the kids were complaining that we weren't coming. So we were able to surprise them. It was so hot and crowded but we made the best of it. The last night we were able to all catch King Arthur Carousel just at midnight.

We had tentative plans with friends for either February or September of this year but her health problems have gotten in the way.

It looked like we were gonna get to plan our trip. Just us in as close as it ever gets to an off season.

Then our son-in-law died the Friday before Christmas. This was not unexpected. He had been gravely ill for 5 years. We've known since his 30s he would not live a normal life span. He was determined to see their youngest child turn 18 and graduate high school. That happened in May. Kevin loved Disneyland. So when Carissa asked the kids what they wanted to do to honor him; their unanimous response was Disneyland!
So here we go again, President's Day week. With 15 people!
Don't want to sound like I'm complaining. It should be wonderful. But with prices what they are; we can't just go on a whim. I find myself reminiscing about those $250 annual passes, $40 hotel rooms and fast passes.

Hey, iamsally - good to see you!

When I first noticed that the boards were back... (basically just by checking periodically and being resigned to them being gone forever until one day... out of the blue they were there!)... I wrote to the main LP "contact us" link and asked if they would announce on the front page or news page that the boards were back, and available for posting again. I don't think they ever did, but perhaps if more of us were to do the same thing...??? Maybe if several of us made the same request, they could just put up a simple "Hey, message boards are available for posting again, everyone!" message, and we'd get some more participation, both from the Old Guard and maybe even some New Blood too.

    Seriously.
But unless I'm missing something; it's almost impossible to find the boards and has been for years. Main page> 3 bar menu>more disney>discussion boards (all the way at the bottom). Small wonder we don't get new blood.

    Hi iamsally!

I have an old bookmark on my bookmarks bar that I used to access the boards. I had given up, but accidentally clicked on it and saw Dabob2's post. Surprise was a bit of an understatement.

Since I last posted, I have a trip booked to Disneyland in June! They are actually having a pin event, for the first time in forever. 25 years of Pin Trading and the 70th anniversary. Even managed to get a decent rate at the Disneyland Hotel. Tickets for the pin event haven't gone on sale, so the trip actually happening is depending on getting a ticket, so I haven't booked airfare yet.

I'm so happy you checked back in!!

My icon had disappeared so I've had to do some sort of search each time. After the few posts I've made it is back and takes me straight to Community. I was absolutely SHOCKED when it looked like people had been posting. I had to sign in and was pleased when my screen name and password worked. And that I remembered them.
I'm still diehard and will keep posting as long as they stay up.
I don't do any social media and am increasingly grateful I never picked up the habit. LP and thegoatspot (conversation boards for goat enthusiasts) are my only online activities.

For some reason, that had me thinking of an old joke (I think it was in Dick Van Dyke's Faith, Hope, and Hilarity: a Child's Eye View of Religion) in which a Sunday-school kid turned in a picture of a bearded man in robes, standing next to a rainbow-hued caprine beast: "Joseph and his goat of many colors."

We've had a few of those. Not rainbow colored but such a patchwork we referred to her as parts-is-parts.

My parents were and my daughters are elementary school teachers. I love reading children's interpretations of things. We could write books.
