Interesting that it doesn't seem to be up for any visual effects stuff either (or is this thread strictly for animated stuff?)

Hence the Best Animated Feature category, so the *real* Best Picture would at least be eligible for something. I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that there will be *exactly* one animated feature in the Best Picture nominees from now on, unless and until the nominee list goes back down to 5. Which makes the Best Animated Feature category redundant, since the nominating committee has already unilaterally crowned the winner. Don't kid yourself. TS3 (or any other animated movie) has as much chance of winning Best Picture as Jackass 3D does.

If the Academy lost their collective sanity and decided to nominate Little Fockers for Best Screenplay, it would be Adapted not Original.

I'm really surprised that Tangled didn't get a nomination. I know this is a minority opinion, but I thought it was a better film than Toy Story 3. TS3 just felt like more of the same we had already seen in TS1 and TS2 - at least Tangled was telling a new story.

I've seen most of the best picture films and think they are definitely great films. But TS3 touched every person who saw it. How many movies can say that? Wouldn't it be great if it won? *Sigh*
Originally Posted By mawnck >>Can the Best Animated Feature category have more than three nominations, or is that the limit?<< Silly Oscar rule in 3 ... 2 ... 1 ... The number of nominees for Best Animated Feature depends on how many movies are submitted and declared eligible for the category. If it's 16 or higher, there are 5 nominees, if it's 15 or fewer, it's 3. There were 16 submissions this year, but Yogi Bear was declared ineligible for not having enough animation in it. Yep, that's right. Just a couple more minutes of Yogi onscreen and Tangled would've been one of the **five** nominees. I'm disappointed that Tangled didn't get in too, but not surprised. It was a really tough call this year. And do not miss The Illusionist if you see it playing your local arthouse - it's terrific.

I don't think that has happened before.
