In other words; his whole life. We tried to get them to go last year but it did not work out. When we were informed that they were moving to Michigan (where my DIL has family) nothing would do but to get them there before moving across the country. Money was short but we managed to get a good deal on a family suite and then her family from SoCal was able to get us the discounted tickets. We could only do two days one park each. We drove down Sunday afternoon to see her family and get a good rest before what was sure to be a very busy day. The cast was Rod and me, our son, his wife, 8yo daughter Chloe, 5yo Jason and 19month old Blake. Light crowds and perfect weather were a big bonus. We got up early Monday to get to DCA before opening. I immediately gathered all tickets to head for FP’s for RSR. Not too long a line and our return was 11. We met them at Monster Incs and rode it 2 more times as when we would get out Blake would yell, “more! more!” Then we headed to Bugsland and did Tuck and Roll, Ladybugs and Heimlech. It was time for RSR. We had to do a baby switch so Dana stayed with Blake while we rode. Of course Dad wanted to be with his kids and they had to be in the front seat so G’ma and G’pa were stuck in the back hoping no one would get scared. Well, it was the hit it usually is for 1st timers. Jason’s reaction was so great I was crying when we got off. I was fulfilled and the rest of the trip was icing. Due to the baby switch and an extra FP the kids got to ride again with both parents. We took the baby and went to see if FP’s were still available and got them for 7:30. The kids were so excited that they would get to ride it twice again. Before leaving Carsland we made a stop at Mater’s Tractor Pull. We spent the rest of the day looking in shops, riding Heimlech again, walking around Paradise Peer and taking in Mermaid 2X (“more! more!”) Silly Symphonies, Jellyfish and Jason was up for Goofy’s Sky School and loved it. We went to Redwood Challenge and all the kids had a great time. Then we had a big lunch at what used to be Pilot’s Grill. We went back to Monster’s (2X again) to let our food settle and got FP’s for Frozen Sing-Along. Then it was back to Bug’s Land, another go on Mermaid and a bit more shopping and then Frozen. These kids are total Frozen junkies and were on the edges of their seats the whole show. Even little Blake who sang and did all the gestures. (I totally missed the show as I was filming the grandkids.) Too cute!!!!!!!!! Chloe takes her Frozen very seriously. After the show it was back to RSR but this time we got in front with Chloe. It was as great as the first time and again we took the baby so the 4 of them could ride together. It was then 8:30 and due to an 8:15AM breakfast reservation we headed back to the hotel. I made sure to tell Jason and Chloe that they were extremely lucky to get to ride RSR 4 times in one day!

Unknown to us the cancer had spread, but was causing no symptoms at the time. She felt wonderful and we had the most special week of our lives at WDW. Less than five months later, September of 2009, my wife of 30 years lost her life to colon cancer. I would have never guessed that the trip to WDW for our daughter's wedding would be our last.
