From the Disney Parks Blog on Friday...

Today, we’re excited to share that the first two Walt Disney World Resort locations will open next year, one at Magic Kingdom Park and one at Epcot.

At Magic Kingdom Park, Main Street Bakery will close for refurbishment in January 2013 and reopen as a Starbucks location in early summer. At Epcot, Fountain View will close in March 2013 and reopen as a Starbucks location in midsummer.

Both locations will be designed to fit the theme of their surroundings. At Magic Kingdom Park, for example, cast members will wear a costume consistent with the early 20th century look and feel of Main Street, U.S.A. At Future World in Epcot, the new Starbucks location and cast member costumes will be designed to match the park’s futuristic theme.

The Starbucks locations at Magic Kingdom Park and Epcot will both offer the full complement of Starbucks® signature beverages, artisan breakfast sandwiches and a wide selection of baked goods, including muffins, scones and specialty treats.

More Starbucks locations are coming to Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland park soon. We’ll be sure to keep you posted!

I hope DLP and WDSP might also get a Starbucks.

I wonder where they're planning on putting it in the Studios and DAK, assuming the full plan is still in effect.

It's indeed just coffee, but compared to the Nestle crap that is currently offered, it's good coffee and definitely better than Nescafe. In Paris we got at least Segafredo, an Italian brand. And a Starbucks in DV.

I can understand your frustration over the baked goods - although the Bakery was hardly Bouchon it at least had decent fresh pastries. Apart from the muffins I do find SBs stuff to be disappointing - and even the muffins aren't the finest for the price point. I guess it is a function of having to truck the stuff to each store rather than having the ability to bake-in-store.

I always chuckle when they describe their breakfast sandwiches as "artisan". They aren't even up to the standard of a McMuffin IMHO. I've had a lot of them and it is usually out of convenience (as I'm a SBs coffee addict it is the first port of call every morning).

Segafredo is a definite set-up from that awful Nescafe junk they used to serve - their espressos were a joke.

I've still not been inside that SBs - the line is always out the door. They need to double the size of the cash register and espresso bar. I love my SBs Americano but I'm not waiting twenty minutes for it.

The lines can get very long at Starbucks in DV. We have always been there in the morning, right after breakfast and before entering the park. Hopefully DLP will get a Starbucks inside the parks.

I know Starbucks in nothing special in the US, since you can find them everywhere. Even in the small town where I lived for half a year, there were 4 or 5 Starbucks. Here in Austria we have a few in Vienna and that's it, but they aren't as popular as in the US. A few years ago they had to close a few. So for me Starbucks is something special, because I'm not able to visit ther coffee houses that often.

It has been announced, not sure why it wasn't in this first post, that they would still be carrying selections from the "old" Bakery. This is in response to many people wanting drinkable coffee (no such thing, but we shall just carry on) and from the pictures from DCA, it will just be remodeled and have some added items. The world isn't coming to an end.

This went ballistic on a different board and it was unbelievable how many people were close to suicidal based on absolutely no real information and truckloads of misinformation. Hopefully, the same won't happen here.

I realize that it is easy for me to say since I don't drink coffee and although I do have a few in park favorites like Mickey Bars and Dole Whip Floats, my focus in the parks is not eating, I don't even think I have been in the Bakery unless I just walked in to see what was there.

Anyway, from all accounts Starbucks will be selling coffee and some of their own edibles in a store that remains themed to the feel of Main Street with a small unobtrusive sign showing their presence but nothing more will change. Even though I don't drink coffee, I see this as a positive thing for those that do and will make their visits more enjoyable. Me? Won't make even a minor difference!

Poor PR handling again by the blog - they should have realized that folks would miss the old Bakery. It took them 3 days to correct the story.

It's a very nice location. I didn't eat there this weekend, but aside from a small sign by the door, you'd never know it was a Starbucks.

Based on the DCA version of the Bakery/Starbucks this is a definite plus.

Shanghai will have a RDE zone so that is possible. Leasee negotiations are going on at present there.

The Starbucks agreement does not include the international parks - and there are no plans to introduce the brand to HKDL (although SBs is a big brand in HK).

There is one in Ikspiari already. Starbucks Japan is a joint venture with a local company called Sazaby League (they are mainly in fashion).
