We negotiated for awhile, and I promised to lose weight by August in an effort to get my cholesterol/weight/bp down to where they ought to be. That day, I left her office and joined WW. So far, I have found the "Winning Points" program fun & easy to follow. I've discovered the joys of ice water (lots of it) and salads, lots of fruit and chicken and in general, very healthy foods. I was a Coca-Cola fiend, but have switched to the occassional Diet Coke (not many of them though.) At last, I am eating more reasonable portions (man, a typical day before I signed up contained an amazing amount of points -- pretty obvious how I got myself into this mess.) It hasn't been difficult thus far, and I must admit that I feel better in general than I have in quite awhile (not so sluggish). I go back next week to the doctor's, and I am happy to say that as of today, I am down 15 pounds, hopefully a couple more by next Thursday's appt. I'm also hoping that my blood pressure will have been impacted at least a little, but we'll see. Anyone have any success (or 'watch out for THIS pitfall') experience with Weight Watchers?

The biggest issue, well for me anyway, was working through "plateaus." If you ever find you need some tips on getting past one, let me know. Keep up the good work, 2oonster!

Unfortunately due to some med's I put on quite a bit of weight over the past year. I've never been a tiny person but I've always been healthy and active so this was really hard on me. I'm waiting for my next check up to clear me so I can start back on WW and exercise. I have low white cells count. I have the opposite problem...low blood pressure and cholestrol if you can believe it. Good luck to you - keep up the good work, nothing feels better than feeling healthy!!!

Personally, I think the content of the meetings is just ok- I do need the accountability of weighing in on a regular basis, though. I used to eat out for lunch every day- burger and fries and a coke are what, about about 30 points? Like you, I loved drinking coke- I'll still have it as an occasional treat, as I think a can is only 3 points. Now if I eat out, I'll go to Carls Jr and have a grilled chicken sandwich for 6 points, or Jack in the Box has the chicken fajita pita for 7 points. At home, We do lots of stir fried chicken and veggies, turkey burgers and baked french fries. For dessert, mini meringues (at Cost Plus, Target) are 12 for 1 point. Angel food cake is low in points as well- we add strawberries and lite cool whip, and it's a 4 point dessert. If you go to dwlz.com, there's a listing of restaurant point totals which may be helpful. Good luck!

So far, I'm only signed up for the online version of WW, so I haven't been to any classes. If it starts to get difficult, or if I start stalling out, I may switch over to attend meetings. Right now I am allowed 30 points a day, and have only exceeded that one day (we went out for Mexican food with family. Chips and salsa are probably my biggest weakness, so to have them sitting right there in front of me was a killer. I stayed away from them, but even though I tried to order the lightest item I could find, it came covered with guacamole and sour cream. D'oh! I squeeged off as much as possible, but I am sure I went way over that night. >>I used to eat out for lunch every day- burger and fries and a coke are what, about about 30 points?<< Yep. I did the same thing just about every day. Anyone know if there is a points guide for Disneyland restaurants?

If you can adjust to the taste of Diet Coke, stick with caffeine free... that can be counted as part of your water intake. If I remember correctly, anytime you have caffeine, you have to increase your water intake. I know sometimes that's difficult to do. If you get a craving for sweets or ice cream, there are some yummy WW brand frozen desserts sold in some grocery stores. Good luck and keep us posted. =)

Better than nothing, and I guess now I'm moving into that phase where the weight comes off more slowly than at first. Also, the amount of points I'm allowed went down to 28 (g'bye, Skinny Cow : ( Oh, well. A week at a time. Grand Total Lost: 16 lbs.

That forces me to eat much smaller portions, which I'm convinced is one of the most important keys to long-term weight loss. I've read that most restaurants typically serve portions 2 to 4 times larger than is necessary. I've gotten so used to eating way too much food when my body needs so much less. Already after a week I've lost 4 pounds. Although that's very gratifying, I actually hope I slow down a bit because I think it's true that the faster you lose the weight, the faster you gain it back. I'd love any tips out there on how to work through a plateau or even a cheating binge (but hopefully that won't happen).

Beginning on Monday, we are both back on the plan and it is nice to find that there are so many nice LPer's that are also WW. I love dwlz and found that with that, eating out is MUCH easier! Best of luck to you and maybe with the support here and if you go to the boards on weightwatchers.com, we can all succeed to goal!

Only snack in the daytime was some honey-flavored pocorn, which I hated and handed off to one of the kids, who also hated it, so it got dumped. Sunday morning at DCA I hat fruit and a bowl of oatmeal, and on the drive home a salad. Not bad at all. If nothing else, she'll see I've changed my ways (like Ebenezer Scrooge of eating).

Kar2oonMan, good for you for: deciding to loose weight; getting "into" the plan instead of grumbling about it, and; doing so well! I am REALLY impressed with what you ate at DLR! (Sorry to hear about the popcorn, though!) Keep it up! And remember that slow and steady wins the race.
