One place in particular I'm considering is the Napa Rose at the Grand Californian Hotel. And I have a few questions?

    1) What is the policy on dress code?

    2) Do you need to be staying at the hotel to eat at the Napa Rose?

    3) What are your thoughts and do you recomend it?

You do not need to stay at the Grand to dine there (though it is very enjoyable if you do).

When we went, I think the code was collar and jacket required, I can't remember, but I know that is what I wore. A local is more likely to help here.

But defo do. I recommend the Vintner's menu and wine pairings. Enjoy!

I always dress up a bit (because I want to) and my husband generally wears his "good" jeans (dark denim) and a nice shirt, possibly with a dinner jacket. That is because he only has jeans, good jeans, and a suit, so he doesn't have nice shorts or slacks. Yes he works in the tech industry, lol.

We always request seats at the chef's counter. This is almost like bar seating, but you are overlooking the kitchen, and we find it really fun to watch the food being prepared. Once when we were there Andrew Sutton was in the kitchen and spent quite a bit of time chatting with us. Even without him there, the food is fabulous and watching the chefs in action is fun if you are a fan of Top Chef and the like.

We have done both the tasting menu and ordered a la carte. Both ways are wonderful. The tasting menu is extravagant and exciting and usually comes with a few surprises. Ordering a la carte means you can be pickier about exactly what you want. Try not to miss the mushroom bisque "cappuccino," I have dreams about it. : )

I would absolutely recommend it; a meal at Napa Rose is always a highlight of our trip!

Yes the wine pairings was a perfect choice and we thoroughly enjoyed it. It is one of those places that leaves a good impression and you remember for a very long time. We are saving up to go again.

We would dress a step above casual, it just doesn't feel right not to in a place like that.

I don't know if there is one exactly. I usually wear a dress and heels and my husband wears nice slacks and a dress shirt, but that is because it is usually a nice "date night" type thing for us.

    2) Do you need to be staying at the hotel to eat at the Napa Rose?

    No.

    3) What are your thoughts and do you recomend it?

It is by far the best restaurant at DLR. The food is really wonderful and the atmosphere is perfect for a special occasion.

Dave has been very helpful in the past when it comes to Disneyland Paris dining. So his word is highly respected.

*** How special is the occasion you are celebrating would determine how dressed up you want to be. You will probably see very dressy to casual nice dressy. ***

No special occasion, just tourist from out of country visiting Disneyland during the Summer Season. And would really like to give Napa Rose a try while in town.

*** I always dress up a bit (because I want to) and my husband generally wears his "good" jeans (dark denim) and a nice shirt, possibly with a dinner jacket. That is because he only has jeans, good jeans, and a suit, so he doesn't have nice shorts or slacks. ***

So jeans are allowed providing its smart. I would prefer not to have to start taking jackets or slacks with me to Anaheim for just the one meal. So a shirt with a pair of "good" jeans is acceptable at the Napa Rose.

Thanks for everyone's help on this question. So glad to see the Napa Rose rates highly among the board.

Yeah, I wore a pair of "good" jeans with a nice shirt when I went, and felt fine. I didn't know I was going to the Napa Rose when I packed (from Australia), and I hadn't brought a single dress or skirt with me. I really enjoyed the experience, I'm sure you will too. Have fun!
