On the other hand, I love that you can do so much more at WDW. Including water parks(yes CA has them but they are not Disney) and miniture golf, and 18 hole golf, and fishing.... you get the point.

Yes, a masterpiece-- one of the finest attractions in any park. PM and its 'brother' Big Thunder Mount. RR show us just how good Disney imagineering can be. What a backstory to discover with its thematical congruence of the two attractions; I've got to get back over there!

You guys get all the best renditions of 'Magic Kingdom' style parks' staples: HM, BTMRR, Small World, Pirates, the castle, Space Mnt.---I'm jealous.

davewasbaloo- I do like wdw much more than dl, but it could be that i missed epcot when we were in dl, we were there during the halloween festivals and i don't know if its a bad memory but 6yrs ago I know they did not do it up like in your photos (looks like you had a great time!)
I just remember the hm being done on the inside only and unfortunately i hated it. I never saw anyone or anyting else done up for halloween like I was expecting. we were there from 10/8/02 -10/14 are all the decorations something new?

They've had the Haunted Mansion Holiday (Nightmare Before Christmas overlay) since 2001 (I think), but other than that, there was absolutely nothing in the park for Halloween at all. These days, they do a whole heck of a lot more for Halloween, but it still doesn't really compare to what Disneyland Paris has. They have decorations on Main Street (new costumes for the marching band and Dapper Dans, banners, and tons of jack-o-lanterns), Frontierland (the ranch becomes Woody's Halloween Roundup), and New Orleans Square (Nightmare stuff around the Mansion), but that's about it. They also have some more stuff over at DCA as well. It's pretty fun to see, but I would still say that they have less than half as much stuff as they do for Christmas, which is their primary holiday to celebrate each year.

Does anybody know if they're still doing the little Main Street Pumpkin Festival show that they had the first year. It was a really cute show, and seemed easy enough for them to put on that I don't know why they would cut it.

I think it depends what you like about Disney parks, but the DL/MK experience is disney to me. So when I find the MK so wanting compared to the DL/DLP experience, it tempers my whole experience.
