Any ideas/suggestions would be much appreciated!

To directly answer your question, D/MGM and DAK are pretty much one day parks, but you might want to spend a morning back catching things you missed or want to see again. Don't forget the shows like the Lion King in DAK and Beauty & the Beast in D/MGM. They're not quite as elaborate as their Broadway siblings, but they're still really well done live shows.

    Keep the questions coming!

I suggest you begin the day early at the parks and then come back to the hotel for an afternoon break (nap, pool, etc.) and then in the evening return to the parks. In my opinion, you will need 1 day for Animal Kingdom, and perhaps 2 for MGM.

On our days off we do laundry, hang out at the pool and we love to go look at all the other resorts. Even with teenagers a few days off are a must. Hope you have a wonderful time!

Not to criticize at all, but I've never understood how people do this. I usually arrive in the late morning / early afternoon, and my suitcase barely hits the bed before I'm back in my car and blasting to a park, usually Epcot. I can't imagine hanging out at the hotel for almost an entire day, but if it works for you, go for it!

On the November trip coming up, though, we'll likely be arriving after midnight, so it'll be hotel and bed, then up early on Turkey Day to ensure we can get into the MK and have dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern. :)

But there is just so much to do in WDW that it's impossible to "do it all" in one trip. Besides the parks, there are the water parks, there are boats to rent, horses to ride, fish to catch, skiing and parasailing, shopping and dining in all of the hotels, Cirque du Soleil and DisneyQuest, club hopping in Pleasure Island, more shopping and dining in Downtown Disney and the West Side, and more.

But an 8 day trip is a great place to start. Don't try to do too much - burnout is real easy to come by, leaving you trodding from place to place, just trying to get your money's worth before you crash for a few hours to do it all again. Relax - it's your vacation!
