The parks are important to me, but I';m not into Disney movies and merchandise all that much. 3: MOUSKETEER 2ND CLASS: I'm a regular at Disney parks, visiting at least once a month. I think about Disneyland a lot, and talk about it with people whenever I can, offering travel advice and tips. I can't see myself ever getting tired of visiting Disney parks. I like some of the movies, some of the animated features and music but mainly the parks. 4: MOUSKETEER 1ST CLASS: When I'm not in a Disney park, I'm thinking about my next visit. Given the choice to visit anywhere in the world, I would choose a Disney park always. I can't ever imagine growing tired of visiting the parks over and over again. I think about Disneyland a lot and never tire of reading about its history, origins, future development. I also love Disney movies, animated features, music, merchandise. 5: TRULY OBSESSED: I visit the parks multiple times in any given month. If I could, I'd want to stay and never leave. I have memorized the spiels for every ride. I never consider vacation destinations other than a Disney park. I think and talk about Disney all the time. I rush to see every new Disney movie or animated feature and I have a vast collection of Disney merchandise. Visiting a Disney park is attractive to me because it makes me forget about real life and allows me to avoid things that are troubling me, so I go often. If someone says something negative about a particular Disney park, attraction, movie or the company itself, I feel personally stung by this.

I don't care about when Snow White's birthday is or that the 4th edition of a Mickey Mouse pin where's he's wearing red shorts and yellow shoes vs red shoes and yellow shirt, blah blah blah. I just enjoy the ingenuity and imagination of Disneyland. I feel the more I know the less the magic. So I just want to go, soak it all up and let it be my escape.

It’s been brought up on the boards numerous times about the merchandise you used to be offered at Disneyland as opposed to what’s offered today. I have no interest in seeing High School Musical or The Game Plan. I’m sure I wouldn’t visit the Parks as often as I do if I didn’t experience them as I did years earlier. Take Tomorrowland. Think about what it was like in 1967 – just amazing. There’s little that interests me there now, but just seeing things like the Innovations building reminds me of when it was Caroussel of Progress and America Sings. Those are pleasant memories. I don’t go to Disneyland just for the memories, but they sure add to my enjoyment of the place and keep me coming back.

One other category might be the PSEUDO OBSESSED, those would be the posers who think they are but really aren't. An example of that might be someone who vacations at DL and then spends more time back at their hotel or laying out by the pool than in the park.

Lots of flights at decent rates; relatively inexpensive hotel rooms; restaurants; built in entertainment. I do own stock, but it was a fun place to invest my Roth IRA, not something I bought because it's Disney. I don't buy much merchandise. What I do buy is usually a gift for someone. Burned out lightbulb? Big deal. The one at the base of my stairs, 20 feet in the air has been burned out for months. My favorite ride is shut down? Oh well. I know when Disneyland's birthday is only because of LP. Most people I know, outside of LP, go to the parks in a frenzied state, trying to cram everything in and come home exhausted. When I go with them, we take a different pace, look at the little things and somehow, they still end up riding more rides, enjoying their trip more and feeling more rested at the end.

Sometimes you need to unwind, and too many of my recent trips to the Park have been rush rush rush! So this time I'm just going to kick back.

But that would be... obsessive. I also really don't have a great passion for the rest of Disney. I do have an intellectual interest (as I do in many, many things). I like Disneyland for the same reasons as Lisann. For the ingenuity and imagination. I also like the fact that in Disneyland I can be carefree for a few hours. Free of cares. Not turning my back on reality or escaping from the world, simply happy and content in a pleasant place.

I like the animated films, but I don't necessarily rush to see them opening day or even weekend. I've definitely missed some altogether, primarily because they haven't had the Magic they once had (or so I have heard). I probably shouldn't let others judge for me, but I guess I do since I'm not that "into it." I don't follow Disney TV at all. I have no idea what they show on any of their stations, not even ABC hits like Lost or Desparate Housewives. I used to be a big pin collector... before it was popular, actually. I got out before it became big in 1999/2000. I have a lot of other stuff, from the conventions, and when I used to work at TDStore. The only thing I am collecting now that's Disney is the CARS diecast toys, and I am OBSESSED about those to the point that I go to the store every day just so that I won't miss the newest releases... but I justify it by taking my dog walking at the same time.

I was going to school to major in animation, so it's not just that they're Disney; it's that they feature the best animation of its kind. I have only one Disney shirt--a souvenir from WDW, and VERY limited Disney merchandise.
