While the ads were a bit of a tease with Barney's wedding (where Ted has said that he meets 'her'), I really enjoyed getting to see Punchy's wedding. And it looks like Victoria/Buttercup is back! While I'm pretty sure she's not 'the one', she's my favorite of the girls so far, so I'm excited she's back again!

And as long as we're on that subject, how did Ted ever get the yellow umbrella back to her? He took it from the apartment, and next thing you know, it's showing up in the background of other scenes. Did she have 2 of them originally?

When I first saw season 1 it was driving me crazy trying to figure out whothe mother was, I spent every episode looking for clues, until reading that the writers have never had a clear idea as to who it will be. At one point it was going to be Stella but then they got signed on for another few tears so changed their mind again...
As for the yellow umbrella... I wonder how often they just put it in the background to keep us guessing..

P.s part of me still hopes it's Robin despite all the evidence that tells us otherwise,

Victoria's back? I really liked her!

I think my favorite part of the show is that it has a clear direction (finding the kid's mother), but still does a ton of rambling along the way, like all the best stories. I'm a big fan of the over-the-top events and reactions, catchphrases, and recurring themes, that could only be done in a story that you're telling for the 400th time. It also generally does a good job of continuity throughout the series, which makes it a lot of fun to look for things (like the yellow umbrella) in episodes you've already seen.

I think it probably has the best supporting cast of any sit com currently on the air. NPH, for example, is brilliant. And if you want to see just how brilliant, watch Dr. Horrible's Sing Along BLOG. He sings beautifully, he does comedy both broad and subtle, he plays both evil and good and also manages to pull off a little dramatic pathos. I also enjoy Jason Segel and Alyson Hannigan, they make a sweet couple that doesn't seem mired in the usual sit com bickering and nagging.

But really, who wears that outfit on a bus? The evening gown and ridiculous heels seem like a little much for a busride, followed by a long walk on the beach with Klaus.

And who keeps wine glasses in a bakery? : )

And I keep thinking back to Victoria's comment that Ted, Barney, and Robin hanging out as ex's wasn't working, and that it would change. I would guess that this means that either a pair will begin dating again, or someone will be written out of New York (whether that means off the show is a different question). I haven't been able to get any hints yet, but I am a little dense.

I thought the Victoria bit was all a little weird.. Like I enjoyed seeing her back and all but it was just done a little strange.. Like you I thought the bus outfit was bizarre!
After she makes her big statement bout the three of them hangin out I haven't noticed any changes/ clues.. I was thinking it all pointed to Barney and Robin ending up married but the writers are so sneaky it's hard to say..

I think they were a throw back to the Ewok reference. I am almost certain I heard the "ewok song" playing while they were dancing. :)

They've talked about Robin's childhood before, but it never really dawned on me how different it was than her Robin Sparkles days. Did they ever explain when or why she changed from a tomboy into a teen pop sensation? I would guess that maybe it was her rebelious teen phase, but it just seems so very different from her personality until that point. Then again, I doubt there's really anybody who fits that personality until it happens...

It's so hard to pick how old she is meant to be in the flashbacks but there is one of her in the all-boy hockey team and she doesn't look that much younger than when she is Robin Sparkles.. although her hair is considerably shorter. She was only a tomboy to try and please her father right? So maybe she stopped caring what he thought or wanted to do something completely different to really make him mad? But it is weird they've never really explained it.

That's reality, man... I can think of three coffee shop/bakery businesses here in Austin where I can get a glass of wine and the pastries are made fresh daily.

The random connections like that are among my favorite things in the show.

One year when I was little (I think I was probably 3 or 4 years old), I dressed as a pumpkin for Halloween, in one of those costumes that you stuff full of crumpled-up newspaper. Of course, as luck would have it, it rained that year. Really hard. And all my newspaper got soaked, and my costume just sort of got limp and droopy. As a result, my family always refers to that type of costume as a 'soggy pumpkin', so it made me enjoy the concept of a 'slutty pumpkin' that much more.

Thinking about the voiceovers, I don't think it ever mentions Barney and Robin's 'modern/future' relationships. They are reffered to as Uncle Barney and Aunt Robin, but they could be together, with other people, or alone. It's interesting that they've done so much 'modern' stuff, but never revealed this.

I also really like how they were able to have a sad ending to the episode. Too often, TV series try to finish the whole story in one nice 30 minute package, but that's just not how life works. I've been watching Boy Meets World in the mornings while I'm getting ready for work, and one of the best things is that they aren't afraid to tackle bigger issues than fit into a single episode, and things that aren't always 'fun' to watch. It makes the characters more real, and the 'fun' parts more fun. Plus, it's just a great show.

Anyway I am really glad that Nora is gone, her character grew stale pretty quickly and I couldn't see them taking her and Barney anywhere else.. but I actually really like Kevin, which is weird because when he first came on I hated him. Only now your jumped the shark comment has me really intrigued (as well as begging Ross to download the latest ep)
