Now for the "average" tourist who does Disney every few years or once in a life, the 2 week blitzing of Walt Disney World would probably fit there bill, they'd have more to see/do.

That said if they've got less time and/or been to WDW every year for the last umpteen decades head over to Disneyland and enjoy! Don't compare, enjoy.

For example if someone has a sports car and a truck, don't compare speed/utility and what not, rather enjoy each vehicle for what it does best.

I love the fact that WDW has so much more to do, and the resorts are just wonderful and there are so many. On the other hand, if I were to compare DL to Magic Kingdom, I would say hands down Disneyland. There is just so much more in WDW and we now live in Oklahoma and when we go we want to be able to do more. I will always have a place in my heart for Disneyland.

I still love WDW, but it just lacks the charm of Walt's original park to me.

But past that WDW's downtown Disney area is much better. WDW has Epcot and the Animal Kingdom, 2 water parks, a boardwalk area, a racetrack, a sports facility, lakes and golfcourses and many themed resorts that blow Disneylands out of the water.
Each resort has themed pools and there are exceptional restaurants all throughout the property.
Walt Disney did design the MK so to say that DL has his personal touch and the MK doesn't is not true.
I lived in California as a kid and went to DL twice, and then went again when I was in the Navy. Living in Dallas now I would not even consider traveling all the way to California just for Disneyland. I have no problem traveling all the way to Orlando just for WDW.

I do like WDW, and we do go, but I really do prefer the DL resort.

Not only in attractions, but shows, parades, ambiance, the look of the resort as a whole, the location, the state it's in, CMs in better shape and better attitude (even with their payroll problems)... etc etc etc. DLR is a much much better experience hands down.

The rides are better and the feel is so much more intimate. Besides, as my daughter would say, Walt walked on that spot or rode that ride. However, if you are comparing Cali to FL complex. No question you can spend two weeks at WDW but 5 days is more than adequate at DL.

Except for Mr Toads Wild Ride, DL was such a disappointment to me that the first thing I did when I got home was book a trip to WDW.

I would say even before that when TL98 opened, and DL had Rocket Rods, Innoventions in the CAROUSEL Theatre, and the NEW Autopia, but the 50th sealed the deal. Read Als articles on how WDW management could NOT beleive the show qulaity and upkeep at DL for the 50th. Theres a diffrence between a OBVIOUS 35yo park, and a 50yo old one that was made to look like it opened YESTERDAY. We wont even go into the superficial things like lack of Stitch merch, character meals, structured/rigid meet n greets, etc etc etc.
