The City of Anaheim will have a float (entry 48) that will have a representation of the Disneyland Monorail on it. (For those wondering, it's the current Monorails depicted in the artist rendering, not the upcoming new ones.) Browsing through the artist renderings and descriptions, there will be some exceptional floats this year. I always like the ones with animals, birds and nature themes, and since the theme is "Our Good Nature", there will be lots of that. Star Wars fans will definitely want to see the "Star Wars Spectacular" section (entries 31-33). This will be awesome. At the front is a large depiction of an Ewok village. This is followed by a band dressed as Imperial Officers playing new arrangements of John William's music. They are followed by 200 Storm Trouper fan re-enactors led by Darth Vader. The finale float is a spectacular depiction of Naboo that will include 5 waterfalls, the majestic Palace of Theed and three queens of Naboo guarded by Jedi Knights. (George Lucas, the Grand Marshall, will be entry 51.) Another not-to-be-missed float will be Honda's (entry 27), which will feature two of the most impressive dragons ever created for the parade. The "good dragon" will breath real fire as it protects a fairy tale castle from an "evil dragon". I am so there on Colorado Blvd. on New Year's morning!

Go figure!

I think the real reason there was a float was for the 50th and the ginormous marketing push that accompanied it. Other than marketing there's no real advantage to Disney to put forth the effort to do a float.

It's kind of like the old Disneyland shows that were a huge marketing scheme, but people loved them and looked forward to seeing them. Hopefully Disneyland won't wait as long before they start back up with the floats.

I wouldn't wait until the last day to do it because the hours are limited and it gets very crowded. However, I did go over to the Rosemont and the other pavilion by the Rose Bowl on NYE last year and they had many of the floats lined up on one of the streets. Just don'g to too late in the day because they'll be pulling the floats out to drive them over to Orange Grove Blvd. for staging for the parade.
