Wonderful and clever little story -- silly stuff too -- and a wonderful moral.

I have to say, I'm not 'over the moon' about it, the way I was with 'The Incredibles' -- but it's beautifully animated, wonderfully told story.

Mr. Fredricksen and the kid are a great team.

Possibly the first time I teared up in a movie in a long, long time. The rest of the film was fun, a little over-the-top at times, but never boring. There are a few plot loopholes here and there, but overall, it was fun. Loved 'Kevin', Russell and especially Dug. One of the funniest dogs ever animated! And Carl was much more lovable than the trailers make him out to be. One of Pixar's deepest and most emotionally believable characters.

The beginning is just fabulous, though. Bring the Kleenex!

The 3D was non-gimmicky and better than the parks' versions, and enhanced the feeling of depth, particularly the sense of height. The only thing I'd check, ecdc, is if the 3D theatre near you is showing the short ("Partly Cloudy") or not. Mine did not, and other LP'ers report that theirs did not either... but some LP'ers report that theirs did. If I'd have known, I wouldn't have minded driving a little further to find a 3D theatre that DID show it.

Seriously, I LOVED that they didn't do any stupid 3D tricks and really showcased what 3D can do to enhance a motion picture.

I would love to find out what Pixar will do with a feature film that is produced start to finish as a 3D picture. Knowing UP wasn't originally intended as a 3D vehicle, I don't even think my mind can go there.

On the other hand, the preview for 'G-Force' with the secret agent Guinea Pigs? That movie seems to rely on gimmicky 3-D special effects.

It also relies on stupid gimmicky Guinea Pigs that talk, in stupid gimmicky stereotypical voices, with stupid gimmicky fart jokes.

    Did I mention that I won't be seeing 'G-Force'?

Maybe they just have giant wheels. One wheel has a list of common childhood pets (dog, cat, hamster, guinea pig, etc), another wheel is their job (action hero, spy, pirate, etc) and a third wheel has their problem (lost, fired, missing human) and they spin them and what comes up, that's the story.

I just figured if Muntz was genuis enough to invent collars that translated dog thoughts into words, he could teach them those skills. You go with it or you don't.

(And yet, mele, I DID have that momentary pause at that point, so I know where you're coming from... i.e. "dogs flying planes? Come ON!" Then I thought about the above and just went with it.)

If Fredrickson is, what 75 -- Muntz would have to be 95, right?

I thought perhaps they were going to have Muntz hooked up to some Fountain of Youth type of machine that kept him young or something.

Anyone else have trouble with the age there?
