The technology is there. Why can't DL get a hold of something a little more recent? I know they don't need the newest, best, fastest thing out there, but there has to be a happy medium that won't kick people off year after year.

You place your name, and get up to 3 requests for times and locations, so if someone can only do one of the 2 days, they can pick the date they need. Once the registration period is over, they can have a random drawing to assign the available dining reservations to those who registered, and if someone fails to get lucky and doesn't get any of there requests, then a refund of the money deposited is sent back to the credit card used. The winners are sent e-mails, and are also required to show up at the appropriate restaurant with their ID and Credit Card, to prevent scalping. This will allow folks to register and enter their info without servers "crashing", and then everyone gets the same "odds" of getting a dinner package.

Is there a reason why they don't do this?
