Of the new attractions I'm really looking forward to RSR because I've never ridden Test Track and I liked Rocket Rods. I don't have high expectations for the Flying Tires. I'm expecting the waits to be ridiculously long with little payoff - What I've been reading about the attraction has not been promising.

Flying Tires will have to be done at least once, since I've heard so much about the old Flying Saucers, but if it's not enough fun for the wait, I likely won't waste more time on it. Same goes for the other things in there. I'll do them at some point...

We'll go somewhere this year, but for now DL is a bit too much money for our current situation.

I think we might go to Seattle and check it out there.

Maybe we can meet up ni_teach. My email address is in my profile - we can exchange numbers for texting.

Oh well, it's Disneyland! We will have a wonderful time!

Constance, Seattle is a great substitution for Disneyland. There are a lot of fun things a family can do together around that great city. There's the obvious monorail ride to Seattle Center and the Space Needle, but Seattle Center also has several excellent childrens and science museums on the grounds. The wharf is great, fish n' chips at Ivars are a MUST and save some chips to feed to the seagulls, and if you have kids under 10 a visit to Ye Olde Curiosity Shoppe next door to Ivars is a hoot. They can marvel at the scary things in jars of formaldehyde and real Indian totem poles, and then take home a shrunken head as their Seattle souvenir.

A ferry ride across the sound is dramatic and exotic for kids, and romantic for adults. Or a day trip out to one of the stunning San Juan Islands via ferry is even a bigger deal. The Boeing Factory Tour where they make the jumbojets up in Everett is absolutely fascinating, especially for the boys and Dad. And Boeing does a really good job with the tour, almost Disney-esque with their facilities and multimedia.

The Seattle Underground Tour is also a fun thing for the whole family. Or a Mariners game in their fancy new stadium downtown. There's a lot for a family to do together in Seattle, and it doesn't hurt that it's one of the most jaw-droppingly beautiful physical environments that any American city has been placed in. You'll have a blast, and much of the stuff to do there is free or a fraction of the cost of Disneyland offerings. Go for it!

Cars Land will always be there, and by skipping it in 2012 you avoid a whole lot of frantic fans foaming at the mouth over tire treads imprinted into the pavement. ;-)

I was looking at Seattle City Pass which seems to be a really good deal. Included is:

    Space Needle
    Seattle Aquarium
    Argosy Cruises Seattle Harbor Tour
    Pacific Science Center
    EMP Museum
Woodland Park Zoo OR The Museum of Flight

All for $69 for adults/$44 for kids!

Those things sound right up our alley for stuff we enjoy doing. Would you recommend all of those places?

I would also suggest doing both the aquarium and Pike's Place during the week, rather than on the weekend, especially if it is nice out. They both get really packed on nice weekends.

Both the zoo and the museum of flight are really cool, so that would be tough to choose from!

I second TP...you should walk along there, hit Ivars for lunch (and yes, it is very different from the crappy mall Ivars that are around), and then check out Ye Olde Curiosity Shop. Your kids will love it!

It is really cool, but very long and pretty rugged with lots of places for little ones to trip and fall. They would also probably be fairly bored because it is like an 1 1/2 or 2 hours long.
