Also not Christmas songs: I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm; My Favorite Things; Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!; Sleigh Ride; Walkin' in a Winter Wonderland. And (amazingly enough)... Joy to the World! Written in 1719 by Isaac Watt, a non-conformist Christian hymnist and author who based the text on Psalm 98. It describes Christ's return to earth in triumph, NOT the birth in Bethlehem.

I actually quite like wintery "Christmas" songs but they are kind of weird for me, since Christmas Day is traditionally spent in the pool! This still amuses me - when I was a teenager I started writing to an American in December, and said it was summer. He was shocked and said "so what month do you celebrate Christmas?!"

Here's a representative sample of the lyrics: Hey, maybe I'll dye my hair Maybe I'll move somewhere Maybe I'll get a car Maybe I'll drive so far They'll all lose track Me, I'll bounce right back Maybe I'll sleep real late Maybe I'll lose some weight Maybe I'll clear my junk Maybe I'll just get drunk on apple wine Me, I'll be just Fine and Dandy Lord it's like a hard candy christmas I'm barely getting through tomorrow But still I won't let Sorrow bring me way down. Uh... yeah.

Some music historian on the boards might provide the reason for that, but in addition to Little Drummer Boy, there's 12 Days of Christmas. It's the 999 Bottles of Beer on the Wall of Christmas songs.
