Will the holiday decorations be up by that first week and is that a less-crowded time in the parks? I would love to be there for the Candlelight processional but am worried about the crowds in the days leading up. Any advice would be welcome. Thanks in advance!

November 11 is Veterans Day this year, so that weekend will have heavier-than-average crowds, but the Candlelight weekend is always packed. While they haven't announced any dates yet, the Christmas decorations and entertainment are usually up by Veterans day, so that won't make much of a difference on your trip.

I would guess that the Candlelight weekend would probably have heavier crowds (I was there this past year and it was kind of insane), but if you'll be there for a whole week, it should be manageable. Make sure that you do all your must-do's during the weekdays, when the crowds are lower, and then relax and enjoy the additional entertainment on the busy weekend. Actually, that strategy would work for both sets of dates. There are several entertainment options that will be running on the weekend that won't run during the week ( from big things like Fantasmic! to the small like the Princess corronation ceremony), so if you're interested in that sort of stuff, keep that in mind.

If you'll be there for more than just the weekend, I don't think it would make a particularly large difference which dates you choose. It just depends how much you want to see the Candlelight (and it is a pretty impressive show).

In general, weekdays are less busy than the weekends, but it's pretty much busy the entire summer. If you go in with the mindset that it will be busy, and you're willing to get there early and stay late, it's really quite managable. If you're staying somewhere nearby, go take a nap mid-afternoon when the crowds and heat are the worst, and you'll be ready to go for the evening, when you can stay late until after the crowds go home and it cools down a little.
