I saw plenty of news and ballgames but that was it. I have noticed that CBS and NBC are borrowing shows from Discovery kids and Nick jr. Heck ABC didn't even show a single Disney channel show this weekend! For those of you who have Boomerang you can see some of the classic shows but not it too doesn't have the same selection as it did a year ago. Thank goodness for DVDs of our favorite shows.

They even showed the cartoons from the 80s like Smurfs, Dragon's Lair and Pac-Man. What was cool was that they even had a 'cartoon express' train (commercials) where the kids were hanging out with the cartoon characters. Then sometime in the 90s they changed their format and only showed Street Fighter and Ninja Turtles. Remember when TBS and TNT also had cartoons?

As for TBS, wasn't it called TBS Funhouse? As a west coaster it began airing for me at noon (well 12:05) and usually played Tom and Jerry, the Jetsons, the Flintsones, and occassionally Scooby Doo. But what we waited for was the Brady Bunch at 1:30 folled by Saved by the Bell or Gilligans Island. Oh those were the days. BTW, Has anyone noticed that there are no cartons on the basic stations anymore in the afternoon? We had the Disney Afternoon to race home to, now kids have what, Dr. Phil?

They started out with the typical Bugs Bunny, then went to the Japanese animation like Marine Boy and Speed Racer (nothing like that was on Saturday Morning Cartoons). Starting at 5 they would show hour long adventure shows like Tarzan (with Ron Ely) or I Spy. Funny, from my youth, the weekday shows all had hosts with 'peanut gallery's' and the like. You don't really see that these days, but I think Nick comes close.
