Of course you need an ID to buy the tickets, but what about once you get to the gate? Would they say no? Last year we went and one member of our group inadvertently got a SoCal 2 park hopper ticket (he didn't ask for it and didn't realize it until later). He had no issues getting in either time. Any info would be helpful.

As for the offer, I worded that a bit incorrectly. Its the 2 day park hopper ticket we are looking to get. Last time we bought 1 day park hoppers at the full price, but one of our friends recieved a 2 day park hopper as the SoCal price is the same as the full 1 day hopper price. Perhaps the ticketing castmember was being a little extra friendly?
