This year we managed to scrape together enough money to be able to stay at the Contemporary and the discount code would have really helped out except for one tiny detail. The code is NOT acceptable for the Magic Kingdom view in the hotel. I was befuddled by this so I asked for a supervisor who confirmed that the codes do carry limitations and “Besides, those rooms are already booked so it doesn’t make sense for us to offer discounts to people who are already staying here.†I cannot believe how cheap Disney has become lately. I mean, compared to off-property hotels, you get nothing … you are paying all that money for the ambiance and just the ambiance. They took the Contemporary and added a $50 charge per night for Magic Kingdom facing rooms … I mean, don’t get me wrong both my family and I love Disney and have been going there for years but when you are making money hand over fist is it really necessary to gouge people for everything at every turn. I’m sorry … I didn’t mean to rant like that but god … ya know? Thank-you for listening to me and I have appreciated everyone’s suggestions and feedback over the years … I have never posted but I listen to all of you and … THANK-YOU!!! James

It doesn't love us back.

Most of the deluxes, not sure about the moderates all have different room views that are priced differently. If people are willing to pay for it, why shouldn't Disney charge extra. Unless their now filing as a non-profit. We all could probably throw out some business cliche about the economics of it all. The bottomline is in the world of Disney fandom, ambience, magic, pixie dust, whatever you want to call it, has a price. And everyone of us on here has a limit on what is and isn't worth the magic. That's why some people pay for concierge service and others stay offsite. Some people have to have a meal at CRT, not me. If I'm going to spend that type of money on a princess, I better get more than a meal and a picture.

And, often times, I have had a hard time booking into standard view rooms at deluxes with discounts as they have only offered or had more inventory on 'view' rooms. This has been especially the case at the WL and Boardwalk.
Originally Posted By danyoung >They have every right to discount whatever rooms they want.< That's true. But if the discount for a premium is $50 off the rack rate, then what does it matter to Disney if an AP'er is saving $50 off of a standard view room or $50 off of a MK view room whose rack rate is higher anyway? Seems like they're being somewhat exclusive needlessly. Perhaps a few hundred pissed off AP'ers will make a difference - it has before!

It's all about the view, and what the market can handle. Like any business Disney is all about making a profit.. We love Disney and grumble when things change especially when it hits you in the pocket.. We still go and love the place to death.. Maybe if enough people complian they might change it back, but I doubt it...
