We went right before my 6 year old turned 3 and it had to be the best week of my life. I think every other member of the family feels exactly the same way. On that trip, we stayed at the Disneyland Hotel. Now that there are 6 of us, we have to stay in a suite and the price is astronomical. Plus, I've been doing my homework and it looks like that the Monorail will be shut down at that time, really cutting into the advantage of staying at the hotel. My question really boils down to: what's the best alternative rout? I am totally unfamiliar with shuttles and the actual distances from hotel to DL, etc. Any advice you could give me would be greatly appreciated!!

There is a crosswalk right into the resort, the walk is less than 5 minutes. I have not seen the suites here but they overlook the parks and I believe they have a 2 and 3 bedroom. I have stayed in their regular rooms and really like this place. The only downside is the small pool, it would be disappointing to your kids that remember the Neverland Pool. They do have a nice free breakfast with fruit, toast, oatmeal, hard boiled eggs, juice and coffee. There are many restaurants on Harbor too and a little mini-mart next door that has your basic groceries. Its a very clean property and the staff is great. www.carouselinnandsuites.com Have fun!

Also, they have 'mini suites' which will sleep 6. http://albums.photo.epson.com/ j/ViewPhoto?u=4208073&a=31218158&p=67945849 As mentioned above, there is an Embassy Suites down the road from DL. It is over a mile, so you would want to take the shuttle. They are on the ART system, as are most of the local hotels. http://www.rideart.org/ I really enjoy the Embassy Suites because you have a true 2-room suite and it includes a full cooked-to-order breakfast and even cocktails. http://albums.photo.epson.com/ j/ViewPhoto?u=4071689&a=31004463&p=66092948 Another alternative would be to get connecting rooms somewhere like Howard Johnson's, which is walking distance to the parks. http://albums.photo.epson.com/ j/ViewPhoto?u=4208073&a=31343502&p=68968864 Here's a map showing where hotels are relative to the parks. http://www.geocities.com/ashps yche/DisneylandLinkMap.html Hope this helps!

Both MousePlanet.com and ripAdvisor have hotel reviews by their users which might be helpful. One of my favorite places to start looking at prices is http://www.travelaxe.com This multi-reseller search engine will give you the going rates for most of the hotels on your actual dates of your trip, and a great place to start trying to find a beter rate, such as calling or checking the individual hotel websites.

Now airfare is another story...I'm having a terrible time with those fares right now...
