Upon high school graduation I was given a pair of pearl earrings as a gift from my godparents. They were real pearls and I was very touched as they surely did not have the money to do this for me. I treasured them.

That summer while playing on softball in a tournament I inadvertantly forgot I had them on. Back them you could wear jewelry while you played.

In the middle of an inning standing out at shortstop I touched my ear and realized I was missing the one in my right ear. I panicked. I was very upset (I was 18). The field ump stopped the game and there we all were combing the field for this one lone pearl stud.
After several minutes and feeling guilt about my pitcher's arm going cold I said it was ok, let's just play ball.

I was miserable the whole tournament, feeling so badly that I was irresponsible and lost something I so valued.

Three days later, I'm at home laying on my couch watching TV half asleep. I feel something prick the side of my neck. I reach for whatever it is and it's my pearl earring.

I was shocked, dumbfounded, how in the heck?

I called my mom I was so happy. We tried to figure it out. Maybe I never lost it on the field that was only where I realized I lost it?

Fast forward to 3 weeks ago, 27 years later. It's a Friday around noon, I'm going to catch a plane from Georgia to California later that evening. I think that I might have left my purse back in the hotel room or maybe I packed it in my luggage. I didn't need it as I have one of those rolling computer bags with all my personal stuff in it. I hate carrying a bunch of things through the rental car place, the airport, the plane, etc.

I go to the van we rented to check. As I go to pull out my luggage one of my co-workers bags slides off, hits me in the side of the face and I feel my same pearl stud come off. I "hear" it bounce on the pavement. I look down and the backing is on the ground but I can't find the pearl. There are cars everywhere so I know trying to find it is a lost cause. It could have bounced anywhere.

So I'm sad but not as sad as 27 years ago. I take off the other pearl and put it in my jeans pocket. Thinking I'd remember to put it in my bag once I get back into the office. Yeah, right I'm 44 now the memory loss is creeping in.

Naturally I get caught up with other things and forget to do it. So my solo stud travels via my jean pocket from Georgia to California, thrown on the floor by my bed as I crawl into it that late Friday night, picked up and with a bunch of other clothes get washed and dried.

Three days later, I put those very same jeans on paying no mind to the stud that might or might not be there now. I'm standing in my dining room talking to a family member when I notice something out of the corner of my eye up near the collar of my blouse. I reach and there is my pearl earring.

Wait is this the one I put in my pocket? Oh crud, I realize I have washed these jeans, threw them on the floor, traveled across country it can't be. Wait it has to be. The other one is on the pavement back in Georgia.

I reach into my pocket and there's another pearl earring!

What??? How??? Three days went by. I changed clothes at least 6 or 7 times in that time frame. I showered each day, brushed and blow dried my hair each of those three days.

Where did that dang earring come from AGAIN?

Ever have something like this happen to you?

She passed away in 1995, she had had a minor stroke and our docter gave her 3-5 years to live, my grandfather had passed away almost tens year before and she missed him terribly.

We all came down from where we were living to see her, I remember holding her in the hospital and telling her how much she meant to me and how proud I was to be her granddaughter. She was touched and said I meant the world to her and always would.

Before I returned to Whistler we had one last vist said I would be back in a month to see her, she held me close and told me she loved me, she got out of the hospital the next week and all of her children came to vist, mu three Aunts, my uncle and my father, they had a wonderful vist and the night before my Two Aunts and uncle were to fly back home to Eastern Canada they had a huge dinner at my parents. Nana had a wonderful time and said how she blessed she had been to have my grnadfather and such a wonderful family.

My uncle drove her back to her apartment and the next morning my father arrived to drive him the aiport. Nana had passed away in her sleep just before he arrived a smile on her face. We always think she had spent the time with the ones she loved and it was time to rejoin her beloved husband forget what the docter had said about 3-5 years. We celebrated her life at her service :)

Back in 96 I had a breast tumor that had to be biopsied they thought cancer. The night before I got the results I had a dream which wasn't a dream. I was in my old house with all of my father's family around me it was a warm lovely happy time as we have much love for each other. Through the open door leading into the kitchen I saw my grandparents sitting together and enjoying seeing their children and grandchildren and great grandchildren. I crossed over into that room through the intense light and told my grandfather how happy I was to see him. My grandmother sat me in her lap and I told her how much I missed her and how sudden her death had been and I never got the chance to really show her how much I loved her. She replied she had always known how much love we shared and that death would never change that, her place was with her husband and they were so happy to be together.

I told her about the tumor and how scared I was that my lives tide had reached it's end and was now pulling out....she told me that it was being altered and not to fear that no matter what she was watching over me and all of her family.

I woke up and actally smelled her perfume and she was in that room with me, I could feel her there and I was happy.

Back In 1987 she had given me her copy of Little Women, one of my favourite novels EVER!!!! This copy was printed in 1926!!
I lost it in 1997 when we left Whislter to move to Comox and I was devastated!!!! I tore all the boxes apart but the book was gone......I cried myself to sleep.

Comox wasn't an easy time for me and within a few years we moved back to Victoria bought a lovely old house that cried out to be loved and nurtured, I felt good feelings and peace from the first day I entered it. As we were unpacking at the house of joy I discovered the book that I had lost Little Women. Please believe me whe I say it WAS NOT AT the Comox house.

It has been beside my bed ever since.

Soory about the long post. :) WOW

I'm not a huge fan of coincidences, so it's gotta be God's will.

He was stationed on the opposite coast from where his mother lived. One night he had a dream that his mother, who was 3000 miles away, had came to see him. I don't remember too much about the dream but later in the night, when he received a phone call telling him that his mother had passed, he noticed that one of his hands was clenched, when he opened it, his mother's wedding ring was in it. I knew this man pretty well and to this day am convinced he was telling the truth.

About 25 years ago, I woke up from a sound sleep to see a white shimmering form standing at the foot of my bed, I couldn't make out any features but somehow I knew that it was female, someone close to me and that they had just died. I was pretty shaken up, woke Tinkeroon up and told her about it. Not long after that, I received a phone call from S. Dak. telling me that my cousin had passed. We had grown up in the same household, more like siblings than cousins, and I hadn't seen her for many years. I have always wondered if she just wanted to say good-bye.

When Aaron was 2 1/2, he drowned in a neighbor's koi pond. That day was a whirlwind-searching the neighborhood for him, at the hospital, everyone congregated at their house to console them. One of our friends saw a little red something on Beth's shoulder, picked it off and threw it on the floor. Hours later, Beth is crying on the couch and praying. She reaches back to pull her hair back from her face and feels something caught in her hair- it is a red heart from Aaron's kissing hand book. Nobody has picked up the book all day. Our friend realizes this is what she picked off of Beth's shirt earlier in the day.

We are all convinced that Aaron had found a way to tell his mom that he would always be with her.
