There's an actual puddle of grime on the giant mushroom, near the caterpillar's shoes; given how little it's rained, I hate to think where it came from

Though I guess without the Skyway, the tree is also obsolete

Being raised by two daughters who worship Disney's cartoon version of Alice in Wonderland, seeing the shoes on the mushroom was one of their highlights of the attraction: Caterpillar: Recite. Alice: Oh. Yes sir. How doth the little bumblebee improve each... Caterpillar: Stop. That is not spoken correctically. It goes: How doth the little crocodile improve his shining tail. And pour the waters of the Nile, on every golden scale. How cheerfully he seems to grin, how neatly spreads his claws. And welcomes little fishes in, with gently smiling jaws. Alice: Well, I must say, I've never heard it that way before. Caterpillar: I know. I have improoooved it.

The tee really adds to the outdoor queue, as do the tree over the tea cups. >>Being raised by two daughters who worship Disney's cartoon version of Alice in Wonderland, seeing the shoes on the mushroom was one of their highlights of the attraction<< If you've seen Alice a couple dozen times, the shoes are a nice touch. I really never thought much about what guests who weren't as familiar with the movie thought. >>Yah, I agree that the butterfly thing is a little too obscure to make sense there, especially since there's nothing to indicate the caterpillar << I always look for them, but I figured they were almost hidden, if guests don't know when/where to look. Anyway, Alice's outdoor queue has changed a lot over the decades, there used to be a lot more Alice sized foliage outside, http://smg.photobucket.com/use...jpg.html

When did the tree move in and take over? I'm hoping it at least gets a trim before the ride reopens.

Yes, there are probably a few more than what we have now (especially since they put the 'temporary' scaffolding up), but I don't think it's a huge difference When I did the half marathon last Labor Day, I saw a crate full of the Alice leaves on top of a shipping container behind Critter Country. It looked like they were saving them for when the outdoor track got fixed, so hopefully those will be reinstalled. With the new posts to support the track extension, they'll certainly need the extra help! >>The steel cable isn't permanent, but the vertical steel posts are, so, yeah, there will railing.<< It looks like what they have now is a temporary construction railing. The posts are simple steel bars tack welded into place, similar to what they use around the edge of each floor when building a tall building. I would hope that the permanent railing would at least have a more delicate design than those bare vertical posts
