Has anyone taken advantage of this? What do you have to do to get the preferred viewing, and where is the preferred viewing? (I also have the same question about the special Character Meet n' Greet Event...how does that work)?

You can receive a gift card equal to a one park ticket, to use for anything in the parks except food. OR a fastpass for your group, but it's only for select rides. Or a ticket for YOU to use on another day (say if your pass expires and you don't renew.) You could probably use that pass and then upgrade it to an annual pass. There are other threads about the birthday gifts if you want better detail.

I'm just mentioning this because I recently used my Dis Visa at the dentist and the receptionist said she had a card and had never checked the website. She was surprised that she had to request the reward $$ card. Have fun planning

We've done it with chip and dale, Goofy and Pluto, Mickey and Goofy, I forget who else. They also give you a few minutes with the characters to sign autographs and take a few pics of your own. It was fun, and a nice free souvenir! Sometimes there has been a short line to get it and sometimes we were the only ones in sight. Just be sure to ask Guest Relations exactly where it is when you get there.

The only problem is, if you have an issue with your reservation, you have to take it up with Disey Visa, not Disneyland. We were not given the level of room (high park view) we paid for - ended up giving up the fight since we had to go through Disney Visa, file a disputed charge claim, etc., etc. In the end it was not a big deal, but we may book directly through the hotel to get a bit more leverage this year...
