The idea behind Spirit of Aloha was to mix the old afternoon Minnie show that was kid-friendly with the more adult evening Luau. The perception was that kids got bored by the displays. Personally I preferred the old show. They keep some of the key scenes (like the travels around the islands explaining their key cultures and dances) but there is this family arc to it that I don't enjoy as I find the script is cringe-worthy. If you can only do one nighttime dinner show at WDW I'd plump for Hoop-De-Doo every time now. Better show all round.
