And the Jungle Cruise - the original Indiana Jones (it's different every time you ride it).

So no, next we're at the park together, I will make you ride :)

Here's my two cents. The monorail is a terrible transportation system for Disneyland. Not having a station at the Grand Californian was either a huge mistake or a tacit admission by the management that it is in fact a terrible system. At WDW it at least has a chance to be a good system, but I feel that the trains simply hang out way too long at each station to the point where you almost feel you could have walked to the Magic Kingdom in a quicker amount of time.

With the Jungle Cruise, the MK's temple is my favorite part; it fleshes out the experience so that it feels more complete. And I generally find that the guests seem to be legitimately laughing along with the skippers. At least, along with the few that are legitimately funny. Some are; some definitely aren't.

Peter Pan...I halfway agree. I like it, but I don't think it's dramatically better than the other Fantasyland attractions.

Peter Pan and The Jungle Cruise are two of my most favorite rides. I especially enjoy the Jungle Cruise at night.
I like to go on everything at least once a trip and I I have not been on any particular ride enough times to dislike it but I guess if I had to pick three it would be Winnie The Pooh, Pinocchio and Snow White.
My husband could do without the Tiki Tiki Room and It's A Small World.

I don't mean putting Johnny Depp in POTC. I mean replacing all of the old mechanics underneath the existing figures. Or build completely new figures that look the same as the originals. With updated mechanics they would move much more fluently. Just imagine what the Bull Elephants on The Jungle Cruise could do if Disney would spend the money by letting the Imagineers do their jobs.

As far as the Monorail goes, in my opinion, that ride needs to be expanded at Disneyland. (Never been to WDW) Disneyland is in short supply of in park transportation. They need to put a monorail station in every land. That's my humble opinion. That plus 25 cents will buy you a cup of coffee at Starbucks LOL.

The first time I rode the Jungle Cruise, I thought it was the worst thing I had ever been on at Disney. There wasn't anything funny about the jokes or the cast member, and I resolved to never ride the Jungle Cruise again. A few days later I overheard two people talking about the ride and how much they loved it and were laughing about some of the jokes in spite of the absurdity of it all. I can't capture with words what crystallized for me at that moment, but I finally got the point of the Jungle Cruise. Yes, the humor is juvenile -- but there was a time in all of our lives when those things would actually have been funny. If you can let go of yourself just enough to get into the moment, to drop the cloak of sophistication that we build around ourselves as we age, then you might just find that you can enjoy it too and reconnect with the child inside.

...but if not, that's OK -- you can go on hating it.

About the Monorail stops being too long, I kinda agree. I think the real holdup is the wheelchair load/unload. They have to do that stupid ramp unfolding thing each time, it really bugs me how long it takes. I know that due to the doors design, they can't just have a permanent ramp, but why can't they change the type of doors on the wheelchair car? The monorail at WDW is the most ridden ride in the entire resort, so it should be high on the priority list to make as efficient as possible.

He is my husband but I cannot account for his taste in rides.
I happen to like both IASW and Tiki, Tiki Room-especially the Tiki, Tiki Room which I personally think is a must do every trip and I love to sing along.
I have learned to send him off to do his own thing while I enjoy the Tiki, Tiki Room on my own!

As for the monorail, I too find it rather blah, but ride it at least once every visit in the obscurehope that I'll spot the Monorail Girl.

Oh...and I still get goosebumps when I see the monorail pulling into the station.

I love that, nagnet... :) It sums up precisely why I enjoy EVERY attraction at Disneyland - with the exception of Innoventions (there's just no joy in that place for me at all... I miss both of the former shows too much.)

And wahooskipper... I share those Monorail goosebumps! :)

Most of the skippers couldn't deliver a good joke if it had an address on it. The few who can and adlib and get a little goofy are hilarious. Unfortunatly, those skippers are few and far between. But I tell you, the few times we have got a truely funny skipper have become treasured Disney memories.

Jungle Cruise is a great ride at night. My sister and I went on it last April and I literally laughed until my stomach hurt. But you are right in the fact that the skipper makes all the difference. I really can't imagine Disneyland without the sound of the guns.
