Does that mean he has recently turned twenty-one? If so, how old was he when he was enchanted? In the song "Be Our Guest," the singers state, "it's been ten years since we've had anybody here..." From that am I to deduct he was eleven years old at the time of the enchantment? I don't see how! The portrait of the prince shows a young man, not a child... and if he were a kid, wouldn't his parents be around some place? Also, what about the other people in the castle... Mrs. Potts, Lumiere, etc. Did they age at all during the enchantment? If so, I figure Chip must have been born a teacup since he's obviously less than ten years old! What a weird thought! Also, does Chip have a father? He has a lot of siblings. Anyway, I'm happy to get these questions off my chest... hopefully someone here can shed some light on the subject, or at least share in my confusion.

Originally Posted By basil fan The reason some people think his name is vincent is rather interesting. If you look at the stained glass window with the prince standing in the center, you see the legend "Vincit qui se vincit" which I think means "He conquers who conquers himself." I could be wrong on the translation, but it certainly doesn't mean "My name is Vincent." Many people think the Beast's name is Vincent because of this window, but I have seen him called Adam in many Disney sources. My problem with "Adam" is that it's not very French.
