What part of town is San Diego St in?

Anyone ever use Priceline in San Diego?

Any advice for an old croc to kill time whilst his daughter goes and sees some young, long-haired, British fellows bang about on the guitar?

I am old. I do not like these Artic Monkeys.

Apparently they will be in SD State University on the 24th and the Hollywood Bowl on the 25th BUT at the Hard Rock Live in Orlando on Oct 7th! Is there a specific reason she wants to see them in San Diego? I have been looking for cheap flights within the next two weeks to SD also and have not had any luck.
I have relatives in the area so I will try to get some info for you. I know there is some type of light rail to get around. Also a ferry to take you from the Old Town area to Coronado Isle.

In San Diego, I have loved the World Famous San Diego Zoo and the Wild Animal Park. One of my close friends and my brother's family LOVE Sea World. My parents love to drag me for walks around Coronado Island. My husband recently dragged me up and down the USS Midway (aircraft carrier). Old town is also very nice (little historic Mexican area).

I think you might need Northern San Diego

    Rider information for the Coaster
I have been brave enough to figure out the Amtrak is a short quick taxi from San Diego Airport and the coaster stops here as well as Amtrak. The ferry is just a 2block walk from Amtrak going over the train tracks and the ferry takes you to Coronado where the Hotel de Coronado is.I am looking at the map and it also shows the ferry location is the Old Navy Pier and I see the USS Midway on the map, etc. The Coaster stop is Zone 4 at the Santa Fe Depot. Ticket prices are at a self-service machine and the stops are Zones.
SF Depot is the furthest South Stop and going North the stops are
    Old Town Transit Center
    Sorrento Valley Coaster Station
Solana Beach(great and easy town to walk around)Check out the Belly Up Bar
    Encinitas Station
    Carlsbad Station
    Carlsbad Village Station
    Oceanside Transit Center
I traveled from SF Depot to Encinitas for $4.75 a few years ago.

Hopefully somebody else has updated info.
Do you have any specific questions? for others to answer?

Lots of tourists not actully staying there and you can eat at their casual oceanside restaurant and walk out to the beach.
I hope you have great weather. Is this just a quik trip?
You might just like the Arctic Monkeys too!

I am driving 15 hours to sit in a hotel room at this point.

I think I should make a documentary about this. "What Croc Won't Do for his Kids".

What I am finding is the hotels within a mile or so of SDSU are of the Econolodge variety, and a few miles a way in an area called "Mission Valley" has some rooms of a little higher quality.

Maybe, I'll catch a padres game while they are off monkeying around.

Used to be a semi-decent indie band. Have sold out. Do not recommend. Recommend earplugs. Also get used to marijuana smell if you haven't already.

There isn't a bad seat at the ballpark. Or if you like the nightlife (and like to boogie lol) you can take the trolley to the Gaslamp Quarter. There are a lot of bars and restaurants there. Or as Doug pointed out, you are just a short drive from Disneyland.
