But, I can't figure out how that's going to work unless they've dug a tunnel underground from the hotel, under the ticket booths and gates!

The MiraCosta entrance is set back away from the Aquasphere, so the waiting throngs don't have to see the lucky few entering early. Not so at TDL, so I'd imagine there would be quite a lot of resentment from some who might have been waiting for hours only to see a few privileged souls stroll on past them!

In Disneyland, early entry folks staying at the hotels are guided to the left side of Main Street, where you are allowed through right next to Coke Corner. Everyone else has to wait at the end of Main Street. They all see you going in. It's certainly possible the Japanese will not react the same way.

But yeah, it is similar to "fastpass resentment" lol. On a somewhat bigger scale though, I think, considering many of those up front wait every day from the pre-dawn hours!

Except that FastPass is available to all guests, regardless of what type of ticket they have or where they're staying. There's really no sense of privilege associated with FastPass as there would be with Early Entry.

That depends on how tall they build the pagoda.

Maybe that explains why they ripped out planters in the other areas, because they knew that this area would no longer be used for all guests, so they needed more open space to accomodate the loss? I don't know, but that's my guess.
