Given Cirque's track record of selling out, offering 2 for 1 would be an indication of a serious decline in sales. 20% off probably means that there a non trivial # of empty seats. Given that most of their costs are fixed they are probably trying to fill those seats with locals who probably would pass under normal circumstances. Time will tell if 20% off will be enough to get the local AP'ers to spend what is still hefty coin (after the discount) to watch the show.
