Originally Posted By rtjl72 were you at ariel's grotto for breakfast? we enjoyed the breakfast and the interaction with the characters was more than we could have imagined!!! we were only 1 of about 6 tables the morning we were there! lucky dogs us!!! goffy's kitchen at dinner seemed very chaotic. i don't have any expereince with breakfast there, so i can't help out on that one. you would need to be on the downtown disney side of the dreams tower and a higher up floor to have a really good view of the fireworks. if you were able, i truly do recommend the concierge lounge. the fireworks can be watched from there with desserts and drinks for all. the music is piped in for the fireworks, too. you would have your own elevator to the lounge from the ground floor and if you request, you may even get a room on that same floor. then you could use the elevator for all of your comings and goings. although, if you were going to go to the lounge for the fireworks, it wouldn't matter whch side of the building you were on then. we have seen a lot of lttle ones in the lounge for the fireworks already dressed in their pajamas and ready to go back to their rooms for sleep. the lounge offers drinks and snacks through the day. we did not ever need to buy any drinks as you can always take 2 whenever you go to the lounge. the only breakfast we ever had to purchase was at the grotto. and we only bought lunch once, too. just food(and drink) for thought. i wasn't sure if it was a good idea due to the cost, but i am now a convert.

Originally Posted By rtjl72 that is true- the walk to the monorail is not too bad. unfortunately, the monorail was pretty hit and miss for us, and so the jaunt to the main gates was a frequent event. this isn't an oh so horrible distance, but still a bit long enough when the little people are tired or you feet are a hurtin' and you are on the way back to the room. my friends tell me that the distance from dlh to main gate is no further than the walk from hojo's to the main gate.
