I've often thought, that if there was just one LP'er that I wished I could be more like, it would be you.

This past summer, our family lost a very beloved member, Mr. Glitter's brother. He was 46 years old when he was killed. . . hit by a truck while he was bicycling. He left behind a wife and two young sons, and a huge hole in the hearts of many people whose lives he had impacted in very significant ways, mine included.

In his short life on this earth, he achieved more, in terms of being a positive impact on countless people and a pure and beautiful example of a Christian life spent walking the walk, than most of us do in many, many more years. He was also screamingly funny, quirky, extremely social, and just so much fun to be with. The forty-six years of his dash were amazing and beautiful and filled to the brim.

I'm sharing this now not to detract from the message in this thread (I know I have your love and sympathy--I truly don't want the message of this thread derailed with expressions of it. . .I will feel and appreciate them just as much when they are only thought and not said here). I'm sharing it to bear witness to the fact that it's not the length of time represented by that dash that's important, it's the quality of the living done in those years.

At his funeral, we had a slide show and everyone pitched in photos of the things that they had done with Pete; some had learned to sail, some climbed mountains, some he convinced to ride their bikes in to work every day, me personally I remember that he was there when I first started caving, and whenever everyone else lost patience with me, Pete was always there to help me out and he is a person who really helped set me out on the road I travel now, even though it was too short a time to know him.

We were sad to have lost him, yet we were all grateful to have had our lives cross paths.

I told my husband that it is my goal that when I die, that people may cry, but they do so with smiles on their faces as I hope that I have brought them a happy memory that will last beyond me.
