I don't want to go to a theme park on my first day, I would rather just visit a water park. I can't do this or I'll have wasted a theme park ticket day, right?

The water parks do not count unless you go there- no different than the theme parks don't count if you don't go there.

Think of it this way-- that day hopper could have 16 separate days of entrance --

10 park days and 6 water park days --

if you dont use all the water park days- you keep the tickets - the 'plusses' don;t expire and next time buy the basic hopper not the deluxe and there will still be water park visits left on the old ones.
Works just like the old ticket system that way....we are still using water park entrances from 10 day deluxe hoppers we bought 4 years ago.

Of course, you also have the option to skip overated WDW and head west to DLR, or better...go east to TDR, where things are much simpler, nicer, and have more quality in them.

I wish someone had explained it to me earlier. I guess I should have asked more questions! Thanks for the info!

I'm glad I asked the question here, or I would have operated under false assumptions. Thank you all for your information.
