Myself, I was Belle last year. I made my own gown from scratch, and bought a huge hoop skirt off of ebay.

The year before that, I was Ariel, in her fin. I made a long, fitted green sequined skirt with "fins" coming out the sides.

And the year before that, I was Maleficent. I made my own set of horns (like the ones she wears) out of resin and fiberglass over a clay mold. I made a flowing cape and a great big black gown. I even had a really tall stand-up collar. It was one of my favorites, by far, and took a lot of work.

This year, I am planning on going to DCA for Halloween (or, at least the weekend before) to attend their party thing.
I was assuming that I would not be able to dress up as a Disney character, as I am not a little girl. I know they have these rules for the park in general. So, I decided to go another way, other than Disney this year.

I plan to dress in a peackock-inspired ballgown. The skirt will be full skin-colored tulle, over my large hoop skirt, and the bodice will be either emerald green or a royal blue, and covered in Peacock feathers. I will make a peacock "tail" (downsized from the real thing, so as to allow mobility), and a vintage hat with tulle and peacock feathers. I will probably carry a peacock fearhered fan and wear green or blue shoes. I will also go al out on the makeup; using green, blue, purple, and black eyeliner. It's basically going to be an impression of a peacock.

    So, anyone else?

This year I probably won't be dressing up - I leave for the US on the 2nd of November so Halloween will be fairly overlooked due to preparations! Knowing me and my costume affinity, though, I'll relent and end up having a last-minute bash.

The first, our company throws a big free Halloween party every year. It was my idea, so I run it.....and get to pick the theme every year. Some of you will remember the pictures from last year, we were all clowns. We've also done Harry Potter, Pirates and Witches. This year we are doing fairy tale/storybook characters. We'll have Raggedy Ann, Alice, Red Riding Hood, Peter Pan, Snow White, Minnie Mouse, Dorothy, Cruella. I can't decide on what I want to be yet, but I am leaning towards Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas. It's that or Cinderella. I would love to be Maleficent, but I can't find a costume I am happy with. I was also looking at the Evil Queen costume.

We also have a party at home, last year we did Totally 80's, year before that was Pirates in the Caribbean. This year our theme is the Wild Wild West. I am going to be a Saloon Girl, I found an awesome costume.

No idea what to be this year. Noticed Disney Direct is selling a Miss Piggy costume though. Maybe I'll make my own piggy costume (they want 70 bucks for theirs!) and buy their wig/ears (10 bucks).

Well... Disney costumes in general always seem to be pretty pricey unless you buy them on sale. I bought my Belle costume from a non-Disney Halloween store about 10 years ago and it was at least $60 back then!

The Sally costume is so beautiful and comfortable. I love it.
