While I would like to see another WS pavilion, I'm not sure how I feel about reading someone whose saying someone else is saying that someone entirely different is saying it might be back on. I certainly think that Russia would be a great addition to the current roster, but I can't help but notice that this continues to completley ignore the Southern Hemisphere. There are plenty of other countries out there that aren't anything like the ones we currently have, while Russia shares quite a bit. I'm sure if they do go with Russia it will look amazing (hopefully have a ride too), but there just seems to be a lot of Europe in the World Showcase (even though Russia straddles the Ural Mountains and is in both Asia and Europe, the stuff they would show would most likely be the European part since Siberia is only interesting for so long.)

Yeah, I could have actually gone to Jim Hill Media and then linked the article. http://tinyurl.com/3dx4ey There ya go. Complete with concept art from 1991.

As far as the ratatouille coaster goes, if that's the one we're referring too, I really don't think this movie lent itself to a ride. Now a restaurant I can see, I would love to eat at Chef Gusteau's or Ratatouille (The restaurant at the end of the movie) but I don't see how a coaster could work.

Originally Posted By dshyates "and attractions ... like it or not .. people want attractions." Attractions are so imature. Wouldn't you guys like a park more if it is a few simple carnival rides and 100s of shops and restaurants. Then I could see how they could go ahead and raise the price to $100/day. Instead of a Russian Pavilion, they build a Rissian influenced hotel with a kids free restaurant, and lots of overpriced Russian trinkets. Hans and Jonvn have finally convinced me that the DCA model should be the gold standard of theme park development. Why spend all that money when carnival spinners and biege stucco is just fine.

Did someone mention spinners and carnival rides? I'd rather have the carnival rides over empty 2nd floors and seasonally utilized areas.

I would have to disagree -- I don't see how adding attractions would dumb down WS - wouldn't it just be plussing it? I think it would be wonderful if every country in WS had at least one attraction -- right now, we have Italy, Germany, Japan, Morrocco and the United Kingdom without any attractions at all -- only shopping and dining. And while I love what is there, I can't help but think how great it would be if there were even more shows, movies and rides to enjoy while in WS. And having those attractions would in no way dumb down the area -- it would only enhance it and give people even more reasons to enter those pavilions.

That might not happen, but I just like the relative peace of WS.
Originally Posted By plpeters70 "That might not happen, but I just like the relative peace of WS." While I tend to agree with you, I have often thought that Disney made a mistake by not having at least one or two roller coasters at EPCOT from day one. EPCOT Center was an amazing park when it opened, but it didn't have ANY traditional thrill rides -- the "thrills" were all mental. And while I personally didn't miss them, I know that many others did. And since I feel that roller coasters have no place in Future World, the only place that would have made sense in the original park would have been to place mountain themed coasters in World Showcase. While I know this would have meant less of the tranquil environment that we so love, I think that more of the original EPCOT Center, i.e. Future World, could have been saved if Disney had created a few classic thrills in the park from the beginning. (I should also add that I feel that Disney made a mistake by replacing rides like Horizons and World of Motion with thrills -- the rides should have remained, and thrills should have been placed around them. Future World would have been more "balanced" that way.)
