Riding It's A Small World Riding the Davy Crockett river canoes (and getting a big laugh when the guide had us wave to guests in line at the HM, telling us that only those who were actually monkeys would wave back, as earlier that day when we rode the HM and were in line, we waved to the folks in the canoes who waved at us! hehehe) experiencing the Hall of Presidents with my Daddy riding the WEDWay People Mover Carousel of Progress Haunted Mansion Pirates of the Caribbean being too wimpy to ride Space Mountain even though my Daddy and brother rode it and said it was fun passing on the Country Bears when my Mom suggested we may enjoy that Having a hard time deciding what treat I wanted at the candy shop on Main St USA All in all, I think I had a GREAT first day at WDW, as evidenced by the fact that I still remember it so clearly almost 19 years later.

So I was 21 when I made my first trip and was with 2 male friends, one of the friends' dad who was a Disney Cruiseline CM at the time and got us all our tickets and a fiance that I later broke things off wtih. I remember: We started at the MK and took the ferry over there. So my first view of things was coming across the lake. I bawled my eyes out. I couldn't beleive I was finally there! I rememeber not being able to take my eyes off the castle while making my first walk down Main Street. In fact I tripped because the guys were trying to take a picture of me and I looked over my shoulder again at it and lost my footing. Alien Encouter scared the pants off me so bad I refused to do the Haunted Mansion that trip. Not wanting to go on Space Mountain but being talked into it and when it ended all 4 guys were dying after I proclaimed "WHAT?!? Its over already?!?!" My friend who's dad was the CM telling me Buzz Lightyear was dumb so we didn't go on it which later when I went back for my 2nd trip really cheesed me off because I love video games and its got that feel to it. Eating lunch at Cosmic Ray's and making jokes because Ray was my friend's dad's name. Muppets at MGM made me about fall over and die, I was in Muppet heaven. Illuminations and the Tapestry of Nations parade at Epcot. ITTBAB and KS at Animal Kingdom. We did all 4 parks in 2 days. Mostly my memories are of Magic Kingdom with quick and crazy memories of storming the other 3 parks!

I miss those little touches of whim and fun at WDW.

Snow White's Scary Adventure being closed down. My first trip with my hubby (who I met at WDW, but my friend grabbed him first)- making him ride Snow White's Scary Adventure with me and him complaining that we were the only ones in line without kids. First trip with my kids - Chef Mickey's Character Breakfast Them seeing Cinderella's Castle for the first time Having to keep on the look out for Cinderella the whole time to keep our kids from her. They wanted to punch her. (When we were planning the trip I would tell them we were going to Mickey's House and then show them a picture WDW. They assumed that the castle was Mickey's house. When we got there, I told them it was actually Cinderella's castle. They thought that Cinderella kicked Mickey out of his house and stole it, so they wanted me punch her for being so mean. The entire trip, we had to explain to them that you don't hit girls.)

She had been two times with her family and couldn't wait to share with me everything she loved. My daughter loved the characters even at 6 months. We bought her a stuffed Minnie that, to this day, she carries with her everywhere she goes -- except to school.

Our next trip in '80 is when the memories really took hold. Getting out of the car to take pictures of the topiaries, staring at BTMRR which I think hadn't opened yet, the water slides at River country where they dropped off several feet above the pool. I remember thinking it was like a 40 foot drop, but in reality it was a lot shorter. I remember Tommorwland at night and going onto Space Mountain with my dad and being scared out of my wits. As soon as we turned the corner my eyes were closed. The other memory I have from that trip is the breakfast that was served on the plane. We took Eastern out of Philly and I remember they served these rolled-up pancakes filled with warm apples and a side of sausage. I just thought it was the greatest breakfast ever. It's stuck with me ever since.

I remember the first time I saw the Poly and vowed to stay there one day(which I finally did in Dec). They told us that all of DL could fit in the parking lot of the TTC. This was the first time I had been to any Disney park. I was 20 and completely unaware of what I was about to experience. When I walked throught the tunnel under the train station on to MS it felt like all the air had been sucked out of the place I was standing. I realized that I actually had tears in my eyes. Of course I was a little embarrassed(remember I was 20 and thought I was cool). Now it stands out as one of the truest emotional moments ever. I couldn't take it all in but when I got to the Emporium and looked down at the castle I was hooked. I've been taking pictures of it ever since(my husband jokes that if I don't take at least 10 pics of the castle it hasn't been a good vacation). The two attractions that I remember the most is CoP(my fave) and HoP. I grew up in a military town and patriotism is very dear to me. I'll never forget when the curtain opened and there in front of me were the men who had lead our country. I still get goose bumps when I go but nothing compares to that first time. When Mr. Lincoln got up to speak I could bearly contain myself. I know to some this may sound hokey but to me they are very dear momories. I have a pic of myself that day with the castle in the background and a set of Mickey ears on. It was many years and pounds ago. Labuda thanks for this thread I needed a pick-me-up today. Gee TD I thought you were supposed to be the negative one looks like someone is trying to steal the title they bestowed upon you.

As a guest perhaps my first memory is travelling across the Seven Seas Lagoon and seeing the park coming up. It looked SO much bigger than Disneyland. Also, it was fun to think I knew my way around having been a frequent visitor to the Land and then realizing everything wasn't exactly identical.
