A handful of the creamy-white clouds has the heft of air. Its crunch is delightful, its smell irresistible. Americans treasure popcorn. Each of us crunches through 58 quarts a year. More than a few quarts will be devoured during Oscar parties Sunday night when the Academy Awards are televised. Movies enjoyed at home or in theaters are the perfect complement to popcorn and its hybrids -- caramel corn and kettle corn.<< >>But the joy of popcorn isn't in its purchase and preparation, but in its consumption. "Popcorn makes people smile," says Deirdre Flynn, marketing director for the Popcorn Board. "When you're eating popcorn, you're usually doing something fun. Popcorn brings back great memories and makes people feel good. You know the saying, 'Good times are poppin' with popcorn.' "<<

Because they are deep fried. And last time i checked you heat up the popcorn, not fry it, that wouldnt turn out too good.

Did you know that Eggs are the single largest source of cholesterol among the foods commonly eaten in the U.S. ?

Please, if you are going to direct comments towards me, I must insist that you try your utmost to avoid spelling and grammatical errors. It shows disrespect to me when you attempt to make a point that gets lost in scrambled language. I never said Churros were a healthy food- but neither is popcorn. They are both fried with oils and greases. One has salt, the other cinammon and sugar. Churros are made from a traditional Mexican recipe that does call for eggs and dough, and popcorn is made of corn. Neither are healthy, strictly speaking, however a Churro, a stick of dough fried and then bathed in sugar and cinammon, is much sweeter than salty, greasy popcorn that stains your hands and gets stuck in your teeth.

"Well you obivously dont know how Churros are made before they are frozen and sent to DLR. Because they are deep fried. And last time i checked you heat up the popcorn, not fry it, that wouldnt turn out too good. " I believe you were *trying* to say: Then you are obviously ignorant of the churro-making process. Churros are deep fried and then frozen, packaged, and sent to DLR. Popcorn, however, does not require frying- that wouldn't turn out to good! I don't claim to be an english teacher of some sort- but my SAT scores are "through-the-roof" when it comes to Language, Grammar, Usage, and Punctuation. When you try to direct a point at me, it makes sense to make it as clear as possible so that the reader understands your point-of-view. Readers also judge the author by their usage of the language; for example, if one writes in broken english like yourself, they might be judged as an arrogant, half-educated nit-wit. This is not to say that you are just that, but in the future I would appreciate not having to fully reconstruct your posts in order to attempt to understand your points. "I have never got stained hands from popcorn." Using laytex gloves, eh? Smart man...
