That said, I would be fairly surprised if it went to Tomorrowland. Still, I can't help but wonder how much worse that land will get, since surely the flashy new sci-fi land on the other side of the park would take away any potential budget for giving it the makeover it needs (and has needed for well over a decade)

Toontown is only 4.5 acres, and that includes the show buildings! Ergo, as SWLand is 14 acres, give or take, . . . if they somehow decide to put it north of the berm, then a whole of buildings will be demolished.

As I said, the DLR won't be running in front of SWLand, it was already revealed today that everything you see in SWLand will be Star Wars . . . like i've said all along.

    >>>Toontown is 4 acres while big thunder ranch and the horse area and backstage is 10.<<<

SWLand will be always Star Wars, it won't be Critter country with the train bisecting it, hence it will probably not utilize the Big Thunder ranch/festival of fools area. I don't think they'd want SWland visible from the Mark Twain if they could help it, especially in the north river bend part.

    >>>it appears Miceage was right and it's not going to be in the Simba parking lot<<<

Meh. It is easy to confuse "Disneyland", "Disneyland Resort", "Disneyland Park", etc . . . it might well end up in Simba. I am not at all convinced it will go into the northern backstage area, haven't heard anything about that.

I think the wording would be Simba is big enough for SWLand, easily . . . my earlier info said SWLand would be 15 acres, a big larger than Carsland, and put on Simba, that leaves 9 acres for backstage roadways, some parking for the hotel, expansion of SWLand at a later date.

A lot of things were announced today, projects for DHS, DLR, all over the place . . . something might well have been lost in translation.

Then there's the 14.7 acres on the other side of the Carousel Inn that Disney bought a while ago. They might well use themed transportation from Tomorrowland over there, add a parking garage in Pumba or Toy Story, and in the future have transportation from those 14.7 acres to the strawberry fields. Lots of possibilities.

Good god man give it up and stop it alreadyS. CC quoted a rep for Disney who confirmed that the expansion is going inside DL. It's also been all over the media today that it's going inside the park. There was even a post on the Disney Park Blog confirming it.

SWLand will be amazing. The concept art is stunning. I can't wait to get more informations about the rides. Although we don't have many infos yet, this is on the same level like Harry Potter, maybe even a bit higher. But that's just my opinion, because I like SW much more than HP.

Even Carsland, which has 3 attractions in 11 acres, seems far too spread out in comparison to the other densely-packed areas of the parks

I don't doubt that it will be well executed or incredibly popular. However, it just doesn't seem like the best use of DLR's most limited resource. In WDW it makes perfect sense to scale everything like that, but it just doesn't seem in line with DLR's existing infrastructure

They both sound like they will be pretty large in scale nothing like a minor attraction such as Maters and Luigi's.
In addition, I'm guessing the Cantina will be as popular as an attraction and probably quite large. Also, I bet there will be tons of other smaller scale things such as meet and greets and cool little things tucked into all it's extra spaces to help spread out.

Can I be anymore excited? Probably not.
Ordering drinks at the Cantina from a Wookie? Is this heaven????

My son was so excited when we were looking at the artwork he could barely contain himself.

    A couple quotes from him:

"Bam! This is how Star Wars takes over Disneyland!"

"Mom, do you think they'll remove the Walt and Mickey Statue to put something up like a Jabba the Hut statue."

We're nerding out to the extreme.

I hope so, but I'm not convinced. They both sound like they will probably include thrill and/or interactive elements, and Disney has yet to prove that they can really do these things on a high-capacity scale. It seems like most of their thrill ride E-tickets top out around 1,400 guests per hour. But older rides like Mansion, Pirates, and the PeopleMover can take 2,000-3,400 guests per hour

Even the ultra-popular Radiator Springs Racers has a relatively low capacity, and it takes up 6 acres of land on its own. We all know that the new Star Wars land will be incredibly popular, especially when it first opens. I just hope that they keep this in mind when they're planning the menu and using up real estate that realistically be able to be repurposed for decades to come

And I'm sure that there will be loads of cool things like the Cantina and meet & greets, but those have abysmally low capacity. A meet & greet is lucky if it can pull 150 guests an hour, and requires high staffing levels. A 300-seat restaurant huge in the world of dining (though a small footprint on a 14-acre site), but if you consider that most diners will take 45-60 minutes to eat, it also has a very low capacity

I don't doubt that this stuff will be cool. I just really question if they're being smart enough about what they're adding. The various interactive and thrill rides they've built throughout their empire in the last ~30 years really make me wonder...
