    Was this property originally played for laughs? I can recall all the way back to Howard the Duck, which was quite popular in comic books, but was not at all successful as a screen comedy.

    Hope Guardians of the Galaxy is able to strike the right tone. I have liked what I have seen in the trailers so far.

Starting in the '90s, the majority of Marvel Comics had comedic undertones. The revamping of Guardians that happened in the 2008 in a way needed comedy simply due to the character selection. As in its hard to play a talking raccoon as a completely serious character.

    I would most likely take the guess that the comedy in this movie would be akin to Iron Man. The overall movie will probably be an action adventure with comedy sprinkled throughout. The villains they are using, Nebula and Ronan the Accuser, are pretty dark characters, so I can say with confidence that the movie is not a straight up comedy.
