Now is the time for Disneyland to bring back the Lincoln attraction and tie into this national celebration.

They could put on a special exhibition at the Opera House. I'm sure the library and museum in Springfield has loads of stuff in storage that could go on display at Disneyland.

It would be a bit out of period, but I might like to see Abraham and Mary greeting guests in Town Square (or even Frontierland).

The park could put in a Lincoln shop or kiosk and easily fill it with merchandise. Disneyland could produce and sell pins and limited edition coins commemorationg the bicentennial. (And you'd be surprised by how much merchandise is available on the Lincoln penny alone.)

If Walt were alive he'd be all over it...

Especially if this is being celebrated elsewhere, it sound like too perfect of an opportunity to pass up. Just think of all the school groups that would have to go to celebrate and get a "learning experience"....

I have a different viewpoint. I think Disney has focused too much on celebrating milestones, and have diluted the meaning to where it comes off as nothing more than a marketing scheme. Look at what they have done with WDW. They started with the 25th, then went into the millenium celebration, Walt's 100... each lasting well more than a year. Was there one more? I can't even remember. Now it's devolved into this seemingly never-ending "Year of a Million Dreams." I just don't care anymore. It's not special, it's just another "celebration" in order to get me to visit. I'd rather they put more effort into exceeding my expectations than trying to squeeze every dime out of me.

That would be exactly what I wouldn't want then to do. It's different having a shop full of Lincoln souvenirs at a museum, or the Lincoln Library, because those sales help support those non-profit places. But a kiosk in the park and "characters" walking around Town Square... sorry, that would be crass commercialism to me.

Yeah. They could even produce a special penny press that would press a Lincoln image on pennies.

I agree with you Trek ... but with Walt's 100th ........ they did nothing! I thought that was insulting. That could have been something really special. I was very disappointed with that.

To come full circle though ....

Here comes THE NEW WALT DISNEY STORY in the Carthay Circle Theater in DCA.

I would like to see them close what's left of it in the Opera House .... Re rededicate Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln by having it ALL within the Opera house .. with other exhibits within.....

Then following this ... will be the rededication of THE WALT DISNEY STORY opening in DCA.

The timing is just right for a full blown version of each attraction now ... now that there will be a full dedicated "Walt Disney Story" in DCA.

I'd like to think that Disneyland could stage a classy, elegant Lincoln bicentennial and exceed expectations elsewhere in the park.

I'm not a collector, but I'd like to see the company roll out some merchandise on this. Merchandise that is unique and Disneyland-specific---and not sold in all the other parks.

(The shop in Springfield is gorgeous.)
