And I just can't imagine a world where the Lone Ranger or Jackass won an Oscar, even if it was for a 'technical' category, so I'm really glad that Dallas Buyers Club won that category

And I agree that Ellen did a good job. I vaguely remember liking when she hosted before (and generally like her other stuff too), so that wasn't a huge surprise. Definitely a welcome change of pace after last year!

    Still haven't seen Frozen.

The problem with the show the past few years are the winners are pretty much known ahead of time since there are Guild awards that kind of takes away any real suspsense.

And I have seen 6 of the 9 films nominated for Best Picture, except Philomena, Nebraska and 12 Years. The latter 2 I'll watch this week, the former I'm not really interested. But of the films I did see I would have gone like this

    1. Captain Phillips
    2. Her
    3. Wolf of Wall Street
    4. Gravity
    5. American Hustle
    6. Dallas Buyers Club

One of my friends is a voting member of SAG, and I saw on Facebook last night that she didn't know that Liza Minnelli was Judy Garland's daughter. I wouldn't put too much weight in what the 'other' awards shows say...
