An off-duty Disney security guard is free on bond after being charged with exposing himself, child abuse and battery.

On Wednesday evening, a woman flagged down a Groveland police officer and told him that a neighbor had just hit her 11-year-old son in the face.

According to an arrest affidavit, the boy told the officer that he was collecting money for his school's "Jump Rope for Heart" campaign when he rang the doorbell of John Briegel, 43, four or five times. The boy said that Briegel answer the door completely naked, berated the boy for ringing the doorbell, then struck the boy on the side of the head with a closed fist. The boy ran home and called his mother, according to the affidavit.

Officers then went to Briegel's home, and the boy identified Briegel as his attacker. Briegel, who was wearing a pair of shorts when he opened the door to the officers, said that he had been napping with his wife when someone rang his door bell 10 times. He admitted to answering the door in the nude and yelling at the boy, but he said that he kept his body hidden behind the door, and denied hitting the boy, according to the affidavit.

Briegel was transported to Lake County Jail were he posted $6,000 bond later Wednesday night.

Zoraya Suarez, a spokeswoman for Disney, confirmed that Briegel worked for Disney's security department and said that he had been placed on unpaid leave pending the outcome of his case.

I don't see anything that is the slightest bit dangerous here. Well, other than the fact that some people that will make a HUGE deal out of anything having to do with Disney.

The guy was napping with his wife. Who knows, they were maybe about to play a game of hide the salami. All of a sudden the front doorbell is dingle-dangling and will not stop. It is wrecking the mood for both of them and the guy is rightly pissed.

Letting his little head do the thinking; the guy bounds out of bed, tears open the front door and yells at the little sob. As far as I'm concerned, the kid is lucky he didn't get killed.

I certainly don't see the guy as some pervert. Just some average Joe hoping to get laid by his wife and interrupted by the incessant ringing of a doorbell.

On every piece of info we get for all fundraising it says right on it not to let a child go door to door alone!! If the parent had been there maybe the kid wouldn't have kept ringing the bell when it went unanswered!!

This guy made a judgement error by not pulling on a pair of shorts - but come-on it wasn't like he was at work or hanging out at the local playgound flashing people!

WRONG, there are countless justifications to hit a kid or even kill a kid and ringing a doorbell is not one of them(and I'm not saying the guy did stike the kid).

The only things sick here are:

one, the op is paranoid and is looking to capitalize on some sleazy headline with sexual overtones.

and two, I guess it is illegal to be naked in one's own residence these days. Sorry Nona, I have no problem if that guy or his wife was nude in their own home and they just happen to answer a door on private property.

If the guy worked at the local Walgreens or something would they have even mentioned his job?

    What do nudists do?

I agree, assaulting someone who legitimately comes to your place and rings the bell is not legal (if it actually happened). The nakedness part though, I'm not so sure of.

IF the guy actually hit the kid, that's not okay. Otherwise, I'm pretty much on the side of the guy and wish the media wouldn't play the Disney connection so maliciously.

I recently read a story in the newspaper of a lady being hit with a Disorderly Conduct charge for swearing at her toilet. A cop who lived next door heard her through the window and called the police.
