We won't have a whole lot of time either place, unfortunately. Only about a day and a half in Toronto, for instance. So obviously we won't come close to really seeing it well - so my first question...

1). What would you do if you only had one day to spend in Toronto? It'll be a Saturday, including Sat. night, and then maybe sunday till noon. Probably not museums, as we live in NY and have tons. But assuming it's a nice summer day and you wanted a nice relaxing but fun day - what would you do? The stuff along the waterfront looks fun, for instance... what would you do there? How about elsewhere? We're staying centrally located, a block or so off Yonge Street.

In Niagara Falls, we plan on getting the Great Gorge Pass and doing all things watery with one day... the Maid of the Mist, the Whitewater Walk, Journey Beneath the Falls, the Whirlpool, etc. So that's taken care of.

We're staying on Clifton Hill, which I know is packed with touristy things that can be kind of tacky. I don't mind tacky, really, as long as it's also fun. So... for our evening after our watery day,

2). What attractions on Clifton Hill are fun, if a bit tacky, and which are just plain tacky and not worth seeing?

Everyone says you must view the falls after dark, but no one says which are the best vantage points for seeing the lighted falls. So...

3). What are the best vantage points for seeing the lighted falls? We'll be seeing them during the day and can probably suss out some good viewing spots, but are some spots better than others for the illuminated falls?

    Lastly,

4). Are some crossing points between the US and Canada better than others in terms of delays? Are there some that should be avoided at all costs? The crossing at Lewiston on the highway looks like the obvious choice, but is it so obvious that the delays are bad?

Would really appreciate any help you all can offer. And moderators, I couldn't find a really appropriate category for this (perhaps there should be a new one - general non-theme-park travel advice?), so I hope you'll let this stay. I've helped some Canadian LP'ers with DL advice in the past, so I hope you'll let them return the favor, or at least move this to another section that gets some traffic. :) Thanks.

We're from BC too, the Vancouver area. Good suggestions about the tours, though, if you are limited to time.

The crossings in our area REEEEALLY vary in terms of border delays. One may have 15 minutes, and one may have an hour and a half, but there are about 30 minutes between them, and 30 minutes back to the main highway if you take one of the smaller ones, so you have to weigh the convenience. Sometimes it's just as well to wait in line.

Also, I now see we're actually right ON Yonge Street, at the Hotel Victoria, not too far from the waterfront.

    Have a great trip.
