Goals for the day - get the most out of Disneyland and meet up with some other folks. Everyone had a good time, although I was just wiped by about 2pm. I just wasn't feeling well, for some reason, and that made me drag. Crowds were ok, it was more crowded than I'd seen it in recent visits, but we were doing ok. Took the crowd out to TSI, and wandered around to see the new stuff. Went to Flag Retreat, which we all enjoyed, as always. Nice day! Day 2 - Monday, June 14, 2010: Slept in, didn't get to the parks until nearly 1pm. Wow, where did all these people come from? On a Monday? Had a good day, but wondered what the deal was with the crowds. Saw the fireworks. Wow, those were disappointing. Most of the show was towards the left side of the castle. From where we were, this meant they were behind trees and bushes. 8/ Not as nice a show as Wishes was. Our friends had left, so it was just the 4 of us, and we stayed until the park closed. Day 3 - Tuesday, June 15, 2010: This was our day at DCA. Yes, out of five days, we'd wind up only spending one at DCA. But, we spent the entire day there, something I hadn't done in a long while. CROWDED. Rode TOT, saw MV3D, tried to see Aladdin, but missed it by the number of people who cut in front of the line at the last minute. THAT was annoying. Never did get to see the show, as we had dinner reservations. Did manage to get fast passes to ride Screamin'. 5 pm dinner reservations turned out to be a great idea. We had the meal package at Ariel's Grotto, and had a fabulous dinner. Nice staff, good food, good service. We actually went to guest services to tell them how wonderful it was. Came back to line up for the 9 pm WOC show. They're still working the bugs out. Staff sending you the wrong place, telling you one thing and other staff saying something else. They let us line up early, and that meant standing or sitting on the ground for a while, but it was worth it. Great show, although I really wish the 6' + tall dudes at the rail could have been nice enough to step back and let some shorter people in front of them so we could all see it. *LOL* We managed to arrange ourselves so the kids in our group could see, and the adults could see well enough. We left, used our fast passes for Soarin', then went over to Disneyland to use a fast pass (given to us by guest services) to ride Space Mountain. Very good thing we did, as the lines never let up the entire time we were there, and we weren't getting in early enough in the morning to get FP. Day 4 - Wednesday, June 16, 2010 Back to DL. Riding more rides, had lunch at Café Orleans for my fave sandwich (3 cheese Monte Cristo!) and gumbo. YUM! Another great day. Still haven't managed to ride the Matterhorn - line has been long all week thus far, and without fast passes, we keep going to do other things. We even got on the Autopia faster than we could have ridden Matterhorn! Day 5 - June 17, 2010 Breakfast in the Park with Minnie and Friends. Good food. Could be better, for my tastes, but there was plenty to choose from to keep most people happy. The characters were having a hard time getting to us, as we were seated in a booth in a corner, which made one of my companions a bit aggravated. After talking to two different folks on staff, they were herding the characters towards us, but a couple still bypassed us. Can't have everything. Lots of shopping on this day. Bought a D&B "sketch" bag, which I'd been eyeing since they released them at WDW. YIPPEEE! Gathered up gifts for various other folks, too, and made our way out to the lot to head home. Driving home was probably the worst part of the trip. We'd packed up the cabin, and were headed straight up the 5. Um, we didn't know the final game of the NBA season was at Staples Center, or we would likely have left earlier. YIKES! Crawled from Anaheim to Santa Clarita. 3 Hours. Another 3, between bathroom and food breaks, as well as normal driving, to get home. WOW. But, we have our happy memories and lots of pictures of good times to wash away the tired and stressed feeling from the long, long drive, that normally would only be about 4 hours! Next trip for me, October. Other folks in our group will be back in August.
