I think the rest of his career would have largely focused on directing and he is a great director but he seems to have some serious issues. I hope he can get the help he needs.

Why did the recording start when it did and not at the start of the argument? Why is she so calm, while he appears to be losing it? It does feel like a set up, for someone that is an extortionist. How could she release these tapes, knowing her daughter would one day listen to them? Is there no privacy left anymore? My opinion is that, he does seem to be in need of some help as there's a lot of anger there but I don't see his career as over. Maybe in America but not in the rest of the world.

As for him being somehow "trapped"...he isn't some sweet little innocent farm boy. He's been in Hollywood for DECADES. He wanted a hot, sexy young woman on his arm. Then, as soon as he had her, he wanted her to be some prim Madonna instead of the whore he originally "fell in love with". If he was STUPID enough to fall into this woman's "trap" and to behave so very, very badly, he deserves to lose everything. What a moron. However, if you've followed any press on Mel in the past year, you could see that he has a tremendous rage problem. The things he said on these tapes were CLASSIC abuser dialog. (I lived with a man like this-my step-father. A man who had no problem punching me, a toddler, out cold while he raped my mother who was lying next to me.) Make no mistake, this man wasn't "tricked" into this behavior and this behavior is nothing new to him. This is the REAL Mel Gibson.
