This is strictly rumor, but rumor that seems to be too strong to be ignored.

As to why DCA? The concensus is that WoC will be so popular and draw so many throngs to DCA that the park will need something else at night during busy periods and Spectro would easily fit the performance corridor while those floats would have difficulties at DL.

Now how hard would that be? I personally never cared for Spectro, partly because it came right after MSEP which to me is just a happier parade.

Similar to MSEP at the end of its run, the technology behind SpectroMagic is pretty out of date considering what they are able to do. The ammount of effort needed to move the parade across the country (how do they do it, anyway? drive down the interstates in the middle of the night? take the floats apart and ship the pieces?) would not really justify the small technical upgrade between the two. And the DCA guests have the emotional attatchment to the parade that's there now and has basically been in DLR for decades, similar to SpectroMagic in WDW. Without the prior attachment to the parade, it would have to be pretty stellar to get the appreciation a new parade should. Given the out of date technology it is showcasing, I would be surprised to see that this would be the case. Instead, we would get complaints about how DL got another clone from WDW (worse than a clone, it's actually a hand-me-down) and WDW got something better for it.

If they are going to replace either version, I think they should do both at the same time with similar parades. They should showcase the potential of fiberoptics and LED's, while still paying homage to the traditional lights too. If they made two versions of it, the production design costs could be split between the two resorts, saving a bundle. It would also end the debates of which has the better version, since they would be essentially the same (then it gets into how performers in one location-usually DL-are better than the other) and would create an up-to-date parade for both resorts, without having to use the hand-me-down system at all, since it tends to create complaints in general.

gets it out of MK, and gives them a night time parade which would help with crowds??

not to mention think of how much Classic Disney is represented in the parade, which walk did work on to a point. Of course sending this to Hong Kong might be better.

The only reason it would be better to go to HK is that DCA already has the Electrical Parade while HKDL has nothing (except rumors of getting the parade from DCA). Hong Kong deserves a new (or at least newish) parade, so I think they should stay away from the nostalgic but obsolete MSEP. While Spectro isn't much better in terms of technology, there were still clearly some upgrades in the decades between when the two were created. My only big concern is how big are the SpectroMagic floats? I know they would probably have a tough time with DL's parade route, and I don't think HKDL's is that much bigger. The scale of the park is tiny in comparison to MK, so they might look grossly out of place, or possibly not even be able to make it all the way down the route. And that would be a tough mistake to find out after shipping the parade half way around the world.

Not quite correct. HKDL resembles DL's design and is truly a small park, but the scale of the walkway space and clearance is bigger it seemed (based on my own close observations). A few of the floats in their daily parade, Waterworks Parade, and Glow in the Dark Parade are bigger than some floats on SpectroTragic.

I really don't like it. Never really have. It just seems to take itself way too seriously vs. the dumb fun of MSEP.
