Charles has now opened two hotels for OLC - he opened the TDS Hotel MiraCosta. He has an exceptional history of hospitality management and actually came from Sussex, England. WDI worked very closely with Charles and his team on the designs for the hotel.

People like to rave on about how amazing the Disney Hotels in Tokyo are in both detail and for its level of service compare to other Disney Hotels found else where around the world. It sounds to me Charles deserves some of the credit here. Thanks for the info Lee, any chance of running a interview with Charles for a future Tales from the LaughingPlace Magazine, as with his experience I feel it could be very informative article, if his background and his work on the hotels is anything to go by!

It reminds me of a funny incident. After we had opened the hotel I was talking with Charles in the lobby next to the Tinker Bell fountain. One guest was lurking alongside us and Charles turned to her and asked if he could help. She wanted her photo taken with Charles. He graciously agreed and proceeded to pose. Within the 30 seconds it took to take that photo there was a line of 15 guests wishing to do the same. We never found out whether it was because they knew who is was (he is a minor celebrity amongst the fans) or due to the penchant to have to get the same as everyone else (in this case the photo). It took a Japanese Milial cast member (Milial is the owner/operator of the three Disney-branded hotels and the Palm & Fountain) to politely interject and extricate us from the situation.

If its possible I would love for it to happen at some point in the future. The Magazine for me, now days is not only about highlighting the parks and theatre productions, but also the people behind who help put these attractions and shows together, and its great reading more about someones background and why certain things were done the way there were. Would love to see it!

And great story's from both Lee and MN here, I have a lot of time for people in a Management position that can make time to pose for pictures with guest and make the time to speak with other guest, and the drinks coupons was a very nice gesture.

Lee, the person you saw take the picture with Charles, that is a friend of mine who went down to go meet him since he told her he was moving to the new hotel. She had met him while staying at the Mira Costa and up until that day, she didn't even know the position he held. He was just so friendly to her during their first meeting so she wanted to go to see him at the new hotel and congratulate him on the opening.

Wow! What a small world it really is. She was exceptionally polite and gracious. Also effusive about how wonderful she felt both the TDS Hotel MiraCosta and TDL Hotel were.
