We lived for 8 years in Hawaii without TV. I regret getting one when we came back. We listened to music, read books, played games. Recently my mother-in-law asked (in sort of a panicky way) "What are you going to do when you cannot pick up TV signals anymore!?!" I told her I would celebrate.
