Also, in the last refurb, they changed the pyro a little when Mickey appears on top of the building near the end. He still does the YMCA-pointing-dance when the fireworks shoot off one by one around him, but instead of after each cycle of that a bunch of fireworks shooting off, they now flash the lights. They also added the green flash at the end when they made those changes. I don't remember it, but I heard that the first year they had the show (the temporary idea, remember), there was no seating for it. The walkways were just like any other area in the park, so they had people climbing over the fence to sit on the grass each night, so they could keep the paths clear for people passing through. As soon as they closed the show at the end of the season, they started work on putting in the terraced walkways that we now have in that area.

Also the first year you could watch it from the balcony in the Gallery for free, you just had to line up in the courtyard and be in the first 20 or so there. The balcony was then closed to the public for a year and it was used for special guests and the press. Soon after that it was turned into the pay for the experience that was then stopped when the Gallery was turned into the Dream Suite. I don't recall when the reserved seating on the ground was added but it was years after F! started. dsny1mom
